Shorty rear guard (DIY)

Got this through the post this morning, cannot fault LaserFast for service, bloody amazing turn around time.

Popped into work and had it bent and lined it up to see if it fits, bloody miracle, right first time.  Well close enough!

No time to fit it today but took a couple of pic's with it held in place

Must admit to over engineering it and 1mm would have been plenty, well least it wont rust through in a hurry

Looking good but just one incy wincy allmost stupid - its so trivial thing, and I only say this because you seem to be a perfectionist is---
It may of been better to drill the holes for the plate later just to be sure the plastic bolts do not hit a number or letter, I know you can get black bolts for that but all in the yellow would look better.

I hear what your saying but I'm just planning on fixing the plate on with two stainless steel button heads. Never been an isse in the past and my ocd prefers them to be evenly spaced
One thing I should have done was to have spreader plates with captive nuts cut for the inside of the plastic tray they're going to be bolted through
Will put them on the next cutting list

I would still go with the normal yellow/black plastic ones - at last they "disappear"

The part looks like bushed stainless steel are you keeping it like that

It's mild steel. Will be getting a coat of matte black paint for now. Want to loose it under the tailpiece. Way I see it is if nobody comments on it then I've achieved my objective

Gave it a quick coat of paint just for the pictures, think powder coat will be best considering the battering with will get sat behind the wheel.

Its not perfect but not to bad for 1st attempt, if you look at the back near the light it's just below the line of the tailpiece, with the plate on it'll be difficult to spot and even then you'd need to be on your knee's to see it. The tapes only holding the rear in position as I haven't the right fasteners and they're a bit awkward to tighten up so left them off for now.

Lot of messing around just to cover up the dodgy cut down rear guard but hey

Fazersharp. When I drill my old plate I'll see where the bolt holes land and may re-drill the bracket if I'm not keen, will have to wait, beer o'clock
