Yesterday I picked it up from the dealer after having a new clutch fitted under warranty.

Today I reflected on the fact that I learned to ride a motorbike to save 20 minutes on my commute, yet ended up taking a 75 mile two hour 'scenic route' detour today.  :lol

Recently found a lovely bit of quiet, twisty country lane near to me, just right for a short evening ride after work. I've been along it about three times now, and was just getting the hang of it. Then last night, I went to try it again. Well, got about halfway, and suddenly I was on "cheapskate council excuse for a resurfacing job", i.e., gravelled over. B*****ds! So now I've got to wait for that to bed in before I can safely use it again. So tonight's ride...O.K., I'll try another little route I've only ridden once, seem to remember it was an enjoyable ride. And what do I find? "Road closed for repairs - follow diversion". B*****ks. So I follow the diversion, thinking I know where I can cut back to the route. Get to that turning, guess what? F****ng road closed for repairs!!! I'm not paranoid - they are all out to get me  :'(

Got the carbs balanced yesterday, and got Iridium plugs fitted, and good grief does it show!! Bike now runs smoother than Gershwin sliding down a greasy pole on a toboggan (to mix your metaphors). So smooth!  :lol :lol

Hey christo, if you got someone else to balance the carbs for you then out of interest how much did it cost?,mine could do with a fettle and although it would be easier to just ask my local garage since you've mentioned it & you is in the land of expensive then would be good to have a ball park figure to compare against.
cheers!

Paul (the mechanic) is a friend of mine - for fitting the plugs and balancing the carbs, he charged me £50. Minus £10, as I'm a starving student and he's a nice chap, and minus another £5 for finding some info on his bike on the interwebs.
cheers christo :thumbup , so ill use 50 bucks as my ball park figure which i wouldnt mind paying once a year to keep it sweet, if it gets close to the 100 bucks mark ill be tempted to buy some guages and do it myself.

buy some gauges NOGGY.......you know it makes sense ....................

Im gonna check the how to's for DIY on night shift tonight,i hope it doesnt get too complicated, you are right red it's gonna make sense & after the 1st time it'll hopefully be a doddle......surely there should be a badge i can stitch onto my leathers for achieving such tinkeringbility too....a fazer city & guilds qualification perhaps :)

DOOOO IITTTT :P

The decent Morgan Carbtune guages are about £60~ which will pay for the first year and then all subsequent balances are FREE :D:D:D

Took the dust cover off me Julie, gazed in awsome wonder, covered me Julie up again and went down the pub for beer and lunch.

Balanced my carbs, not perfect but much closer than they were.  Hopefully that'll get rid of the hesitation when I open it up but I'm not counting on it.

Was supposed to be going out for a ride with a friend on her VTR1000 but not heard anything about that and I don't think I can be arsed to go out on my own  :\

165 miles in North Wales. Wrexham-Denbigh-Abergele-Colwyn Bay-Penmaenmawr-llanfairfechan-Bangor-Llanberis-Pen y Pass-Beddgelert-Aberglaslyn Pass-Penrhyndeudraeth-Trawsfynydd-Llyn Celyn-Bala-Corwen-Bryneglwys-Wrexham. Police motorcyclist with speed gun in Nant Peris at start of the Llanberis Pass, in the 30mph zone. He'd just stopped a car coming towards me.In Beddgelert road thick with loose chippings, had to be very careful turning left over the narrow bridge. Saw lots of bikers especially between Trawsfynydd and Bala. No speed trap waiting in the usual spot which was surprising. All in all a very enjoyable day. Forgot to mention the scones and coffee stop on Bangor Pier, one of my favourite places.

Now, those are names to get me motivated - Llanberis, Pen y Pass, Beddgelert etc. I'll have to get the camping kit loaded up at some point this year... :)

Just been out on my little evening ride, and did the gravelled surface road again. It's settled a little now, but still had to be careful - brake early and gently for the corners, use a little more rear brake than normal etc. But something inordinately satisfying about negotiating a dodgy surface smoothly and safely. Got quite a good rhythm going - enjoyed that!  :)

As I live in Spain met up with a group I ride with this morning went to a bike meet in Oliva (Costa Blanca North).
Literally 100's of bikes Boom Boom music and stunts, good fun and even the Guada Civil were enjoying the fun.
This old suzi bandit had this massive bell mouth megaphone fitted. I think the plan was to blow the engine. The guy was revving it until the valves were bouncing /rev limiter ?
Anyway there was a 4 foot flame shooting out of it and what a noise, good day out just to many bloody Harleys for my liking
MT-09 Tracer for those who no longer can handle a BIG boy Fazer

Went on a Rideout with the Solent Advanced Motorcyclists.

Including the distance getting from Portsmouth to the start point (at Ower Services) and then getting back from Stockbridge via the A3057, Morestead Road, B2150 and a run down through World's End I'd clocked up 225 miles :)
