Since snapping an exhaust stud on the 4th January, I finally got round to drilling it out.
Looked at the threads covering the subject on here, loads of good advice by the way, and had a go at repairing it with the engine in place.
Managed to drill out the old stud, but fucked up the tapping of the head so am going to drill it oversize and helicoil it back to M6.

Or rather, get a professional to do it, because if I fuck this up I'll have to get the head welded.

Took it to a specialist, he said I'm fucked and need a new head.  :(
Did you not come across the thread where a few guys have used the other side to drill into thus creating a sound place for your bolts?
Anutz done it I'm sure and a few others.
I'll try a look for it later but I think it's in amongst another thread :eek

Which port is it? You could possibly drill 2 or 3 at 180 degrees as there are blanks

Do you mean the method unfazed is mentioning by turning the plates round? Its the far right port unfortunately so that's not an option.

I've got my hands on a good quality helicoil insert but it might be too big. There might not be enough material on the head. What do you guys think?

Looks like an M10 on the outside which might be too big to get away with. Should I redrill it to an M8 and fit a bigger stud?

I would try an M7 first

Agreed. I've just got home from work and compared it to the head and it's way too big. M7 it is then.

Repaired the disc bolt holes on the rear wheel (took the disc off to paint the wheel and needless to say the ally came out with bolts).

Use a cheap helicoil kit, worked a treat.

I'm convinced enough to have paid for it especially as I ride all weathers every day if I was a fair weather rider I probably wouldn't bother as your bikes don't get so filthy and corroded by the salt therefore easy to clean yourself
There is no doubt that ACF50 is the best stuff - I use it myself, but spraying it everywhere just looks a bit slapdash IMO
Hey guys the before/after pictures are on the all year biker Lincoln face book page(too thick to do links on me phone)

Fitted led indicators :)  Turned into a bit of a pain because the inline indicator resistors i bought were crap, so i got an led relay and they now work a treat.
If it's broken, it's not fixed.

Left it out in the rain, again. It must think its done something wrong, all these months where the garage was the place it slept. But alas, the garage is full of bikes who would not suffer so well in the rain.

Sorry Fazer.

What horns did you fit? thinking of fitting some, were they plug & play or did you have to fit a relay, apologies for all the questions :)

Google "hootaz" cheap but loud no relay fitted mounted one where the standard one was and the other on the side of the radiator just to test then I'll mount it ala pats motorcycle page, only had to make an extension from the original connection

Brought it, rode it ~120 miles home, got cold,  made it filthy, but kept it upright :)

Cheers

Wanted an adjustable clutch lever but didn't fancy spending £20 on a used ZX9 Clutch lever so fitted this!

Then washed it and went for a spin.

Washed it.  :D Now it has to be left in the garage all week. No riding for me.  :'(

Plus finally took photos of the new extenda and belly pan.

Comments please.
