Just got back from a 160 mile round trip and averaged 55mpg, which is the norm for the way I ride.
I went to Castlewood Cafe, Uttoxeter, via Horseshoe Pass, Llangollen,Market Drayton, Stone.
Very quiet roads once I left North Wales. Saw hundreds of bikers, heading possibly to the Bike Show in Llangollen.

Reading the Mpg figures I'm guessing 40-50mpg for a 1000 and 60mpg for the 600. I know I regularly got 60mpg from my 600 and currently get close to 50mpg from my 1000. OR am I wrong again....

San Sebastian / Donostia is a beautiful city , the old town is worth checking out as is the Irish bar . I worked there for 2months back in the 90s , happy days .

I rode my bike around south midlands with a bunch of loons for about 200 miles with my bike going up my arse on every one of the 62,000 bumps in our shitty rough roads and now my bum hurts.

How the hell do you get 60 mpg out of your Gen1 :| Most I've ever got is low 50's!! My average is mid-40s :'(

Yeah i thought that i get 55mpg out of my 600!!

Smoothness is the key - carrying speed and energy for as long as possible into corners, no sudden acceleration or braking, a scottoiler helps and I'm running the tyres at 2psi over standard (according to my gauge).
if I'm out with the wife and shes on her VT750, then I'll easily get into the 70's.
This is a standard bike (apart from a Viper can).

Yeah I forget that mine is Ivanised...

Did 47.7 MPG on my way to the Lofo's ride... and then 41.4 MPG on my way back... woops

I could change my opinion, but then we'd both be wrong.

Went for a ride out with Liz and our youngest on the 2 Fazers and the Aprillia. Took in bits of Leicestershire, Northants, Oxfordshire and Warks - stopping off in Chipping Norton for a late afternoon snack (at Bitter and Twisted - great food, actually fantastic food, not cheap, but worth it on the day) and a pic.

Great roads, about 150 miles with lots of sunshine and the temperature was just right.

Liz and me in Chipping, outside B & T.

Went through Burnsall, Aysgarth using as many back roads as I could, stopped in Hawes for a bacon butty :)

Got there about 12, saw a silver gen1 1000 and a blue boxeye with yellow wheels, anyone on here?

Gloucester and back on a mixture of roads - was going to take a picture next to a WWII machine gun emplacement near Gloucester Airport on the way but forgot in the run of corners on that particular stretch.

Cleaned it after a wet run into wales, fitted HID lighting kit, fitted LED stop and tail light bulbs and promptly removed them cause there no better (a little worse in fact) than the STD bulbs especially the brake lights. Re-fitted the Renetec rack back on. Just need to try the HID lights out now

Telford to Nottingham and back. Departed at that magic time when the only thing on the roads is tarmac, nice & dry, with nice cool air cramming into the carbs  :D .
