No, the end can went on shortly before Mike Ivanised it. Think it's got louder since fitting though  :evil

Aye, I've the same can only in titanium finish - mine is bloody loud since it has been well coated with carbon inside. baffle out (obviously :lol)

I've usually found carbon (finish, not exhaust soot!) cans to be generally a bit quieter than metal ones, and I think mine started out not too bad, even with the baffle removed. Seems to have 'settled in' nicely now!

That reminds me, I need to get round to servicing the EXUP and making sure it doesn't seize in the future :)

How much did the front end cost you, if you don't mind me asking?

Always thought the black looks better than the light gold on the forks.

Have to say Nick that is a lovely bike you have there, the USD forks really suit the 1000 and as mentioned the black looks a lot better than the gold in my opinion. Not a fan of USD's on the 6 though, looks a bit daft for some reason, they're super chunky and it makes the front look odd. A bit like putting a Plymouth Superbird spoiler on a Ford Fiesta or something, looks overkill in my opinion. I'm getting my forks done soon, can't wait but I am opting for the emulators / springs upgrade and keeping the standard looking RWU forks.

Thankyou  :) Would be nicer if it was black frame & engine imo, hope to do that eventually. The forks that have just gone on have K-Tech internals; there is almost zero dive under hard braking, and it's turning me into the last of the late brakers  :lol  I insisted to myself that it would have to be black forks - gold looks good on the blue bikes and some other colours but I think it would have looked like a dog's dinner with the yellow! Devilsyam is of course the star for sourcing them.

First Wales shakedown run (for me and the bike) for this year today. Beautiful weather all day, like mid-summer. Blatted along the A40 to Ross-on-Wye, then up a short bit of the A49, turned off to go to Abergavenny via Skenfrith:

Stopped at the Oasis café in Aber, then up to Builth Wells, then Elan Valley (as ya do  :lol ):

And just to prove to myself that it is possible to break your rhythm and stop for a piccy on the Crossgates-Newtown road  :lol :

Left Wales via that brilliant road through Craven Arms etc (slimwilly knows the one I mean  :) ), and a brief break at Ludlow, by the castle:

Will do a proper visit to the castle one of these days soon, think it'll be worth it.

And had a bit of a laugh on the way home: A large section of one of the main roads on my route is currently closed for resurfacing. Well, I'm getting a bit tired by this time, so I stop for 15mins for a coffee and to stretch my legs. Right, let's see how far we get before we hit the closure, and maybe I can turn down some little detour there. If not, can always turn around and take another route. I'm feeling better after my rest so not in a hurry, just bimbling along now. So I get to the road closure and head off down a little B road, which I have ridden before, but only once. Then I take a wrong turning somewhere and bang! I hit the closed road halfway along it's length with no way onwards. So I ask one of the resurfacing crew, how do I get to such-and-such? He doesn't answer at first but takes great interest in the bike. Then he says, go down the closed road, if you're stopped, just tell em you were really short on fuel and had to get to the nearest garage. Before I can say anything, a works van pulls up and he's telling his boss that I'm short on fuel, can I use the closed road. No, it's closed. Oh well, alright, just follow me. So now I've got an official escort on a major route with no traffic (peak time) with the guy thinking I'm short of fuel (I'd filled up at Evesham, so tank was full) and I'm just hoping we don't get stopped by someone else cos the fuel gauge shows it's brimmed  :lol So I'm inventing excuses in my head just in case: yeah mate, that gauge has been stuck at the full mark for ages  :lol

But got through no problems, probably saved me at least another half hour of alternative route hunting, so  :thumbup to the guy who bull-shitted his boss for me!

Ahh, that Crossgates to Newtown road Nick, that's like a welsh Nurburgring, looks like you've had a good day.

So, tell me, how much difference has that front end made ? Is it mainly cosmetic, or has it made a noticeable improvement ?

Huge difference dazza.
Devilsyam reckons a lot is down to the upgraded internals though, I don't know. So yeah, bugger all dive under braking, so you can brake later and sharper without ruffling the bike's feathers, can change line easily mid-corner, and is less upset if you hit bumps while cranked over. After the R6 shock was fitted, I was able to push it that much harder, but then started to notice flex in the original forks. That's now gone  :D

Only thing is, now I could do with sharper brakes  :lol

I had thought about that  :evil

Nah, next is Fazer no.5: a good, low mileage bike with black engine and frame, swap all the good bits over from this one, and have the paint job redone, but with proper carbon speed blocks, and maybe a few other nice touches like carbon-dip wheels etc. Don't think I'm doing anymore to this one except what it needs to stay ship-shape for the road.

Were you home at about 4:30pm? If so, did you hear a bike slow down outside your gaff and rev the nuts off it? Cos that was me  :lol

I thought you'd still be at work, and also thought it might be a bit of a poor show to drop in unannounced, cos you might be 'otherwise engaged'  :lol
