Beautiful morning and went to the West Cork Carr Rally near Clonakilty with my son on the Thou. Had some fun blowing a few Wannabe Rally Drivers into the weeds when they tried to out accelerate me when overtaking. :) Watched 3 stages and wandered home the Coast Road via the old head of Kinsale at a reasonable speed :eek. Did not see a Fazer all day, but met an older than me guy  :lol on an old XJ900 (pre diversion) which had just turned 100000miles when we stopped for coffee.

Got pulled over for a friendly chat( left my indicator on for a bit ) , given a leaflet for bikesafe show & track experience at Castle combe on the 12th April , and asked if I was interested in doing a bike safe course .

Went to the garage to see about investigating a scraping or knocking noise from the front wheel, there is a little play in the wheel so bearing looks like could need done but also the noise is coming from where the famous speedo dog is located so maybe that is it.only happens when ignition is on as i am moving off i hear 1 to 3 like scrapes, like something under my mudguard.

Anyway they were too busy to whip the wheel off for me to look & i now cant get a 15mile lift back tomorrow so that i can drop it off to them.

So foc it i'll have a first attempt at taking my front wheel off in the garden & hopefully not have any dramas & have a look myself.

I also focced about with suspension settings...found my optimum for twisty roads.....3 from top on the rear spring & 5 rings showing on the front fork adjusters....or hard & soft which i find a strange combination........but it works. 8)

Also found out my Rosso 2 rear is now not MOT passable.....after an absolute max of 2500 miles...wont be buying them again thank you very much.

Took my front off for the first time last week , lift the front end ( I used paving slabs under the exhaust ) , remove the hose holder bolts , remove the caliper bolts ,swing the calipers out the way ( goes without saying don't squeeze the brake lever ),  remove the pinch bolt , undo the axle( had to use my long wrench for this ) remove axle , remove wheel , remove collars from wheel( didn't want them falling out whilst transporting wheel ) and put on axle then refit axle

So I have had a bit of a miss fire on the bike and when I drained the carburetor  bowls found I had a large amount of water and rust bubbles. When I checked the clear fuel filter I have installed I could see the orange going through the filter (not good)decided to book the bike in to have the carburetors cleaned and balanced - beyond my current ability.

In preparation for this I today drained and removed the tank then flushed the tank with detergent and plenty of water once fully dried out replaced the fuel.

There was about a litre of really contaminated crap I removed from the tank  :eek

When flushing out the tank I saw what looked to be more like flakes of fish food than rust.

Fuel going through the filter now flows clear as hoped. need to use the thing more to prevent this happening again!

Did a short run up to Kenilworth castle today, and had a nice stroll around in the sunshine. Lots of snaps taken, here's one of castle and bike:

And then rode to Warwick to try to get pics of that castle, but only one view available without paying £6 for the castle car park  :eek

Had to stop briefly on a bridge on double yellow lines to get this shot. I have visited the castle before, and it is worth paying for a proper day out, and I will again sometime as I didn't have a camera with me last time.

Another interesting building in Warwick - the Lord Leycester Hospital:

You didn't visit Brinklow castle while you were up here?  :lol

Today I found out why my immobiliser wasn't working, I emailed bikealarmman.com and was told that sometimes the backup fuse blows if it's not upgraded.

So folks with Metasystem alarms, make sure you have a 15A backup fuse, not the standard 10A!  :D

Lol , though  it was on my mind , whenever I do any jobs on the bike be it changing oil , coolant ,  taking things off , I do check for leaks and nothings loose for a few weeks after .            Going to the Ace on Sunday so that will highlight any issues .

New chain kit fitted - not sure that it's the chain I would have preferred; the mechanic I use got a DID VX for it, instead of a VM, which is what I thought it should be. I think it should be ok though, maybe won't last quite so long. Unbelievable state the old chain was in, after riding through flooded roads and not getting to clean it immediately afterwards. Still, those were, I think, the original chain and sprockets, 27.000 miles-ish, so not bad for a bike with no auto-oiler.
And now washed and shiny again. Happiness is a clean, shiny  :faz   :)
