I'm going to try to be at Llandovery around 9:30, 10 at latest if I can. I'll call you when en route - how long does it take you to get to there?

I think it took just over an hour the last time, hour and 15 minutes rings a bell.

10 would be fine for me if thats a plan.

Did a quick clean of the chain and thoroughly coat it with lube... within an hour it just doesn't look like the chain is lubed at all and there's no puddle on the floor... gonna switch the stuff I use I think

I did try to find my old scottoiler from my 600 - I know I kept it somewhere but I'll be damned if I can find the bloody thing :\

Took delivery of the final piece to the puzzle, some r1 yokes.  Forks, springs, yokes, must be time to fit them to the bike :)

Yay, found my old vSystem Scottoiler so spent an hour measuring it up for the thou - I wasn't particularly careful when I quite literally ripped it out of the 600 over 6 months ago - poor install by the previous owner and I swear it oiled the inside of the bike more than the chain :\

So, just waiting a few little spares from the Scottoiler site and I should be able to get it fitted :) Hopefully this will keep on top of the chain lube situation as I'm just not confident that the dry lubes are doing their jobs properly - this is mostly my fault as its not really the weather they should be used in...

Took the boxeye out for a little 170 mile bimble around Derbyshire and Staffordshire. I observed 4 things,

1) It was foccing cold, even when the fog had cleared.

2) The state of the roads after our extremely wet winter is shocking.

3) Farmers love leaving shit all over the decent bends.

4) I need a larger capacity bike for my daily runner. The boxeye feels far too frantic and revvy and does not promote a relaxing ride. I gave up on sportsbikes a few years back as they were only good at 2 things 1) Looking Awesome and 2) Going Fast. I then bought a Gen 1 Fazer and thought it was the answer. I still think that but I began to clean and polish, clean and polish and then clean and polish it some more whilst adding a few subtle modifications. I've cleaned it to the point of not wanting to use it other than in perfect conditions which invariably we seldom get. I therefore bought the boxeye as I wanted something to actually use that wasn't going to cost me the earth to buy and maintain and also it would allow me to keep the Gen 1 in mint condition. It fits that bill perfectly and I use it as often as work commitments allow. However, despite it being more comfortable (for me) than a sportsbike I find its engine has a very sporty nature. Most rides have therefore become very similar to those I used to have on my sportsbikes. Frantic, buzzy and draining.

Decisions, decisions  :\

Went out for petrol & ended up doing 55 miles. :D

After yesterdays 300 miler i was just bimbling about today, down the Haven there werent any ships moving so made do with a little tug & a lineboat & a yacht.

Then went up the Presseli hills where i got a stunning view across to the coastline at Fishguard with fog lying within the valley & a rocky Bluestone crag sticking out....poor couple sitting on deck chairs by their campervan had heard me coming for miles so i apologised for the noise he he!.

Also faffed with suspension settings...felt a little soft yesterday so i adjusted to 1 stop from full on the rear & 3 rings on the front.....a bit stiff...have come down 1 on the back & 4 rings now showing.

This afternoon took the front wheel off , and took it to Morpheus motorcycles( top tip guys ) , it was a piece of glass embedded in the tyre , also the tyre valve was badly corroded which was causing the slow puncture  so they replaced the valve as well . Got home refitted wheel in the fading light  .

Sorry kitcrazy, was this aimed at me? If so, it's actually an Oxford tank bag. I put it on the back for day rides, makes it easier to fuel up. It sits on a bike blanket (one of those sticky, webby things) to protect the tail piece paint, and it is held in place with a cargo net. Of course you can get tail packs very similar, but I bought it to use in it's proper place for when I've got the camping gear loaded on the back too.

New rear tyre and then MOT at the legend that is Neil at Urals opp Brands Hatch. Exup then started to rattle so had to put that right when I got home. Turned out the hex bolt holding the valve in place had worked loose - oddly there's no torque spec for it in Haynes(?).
Gorgeous weather.

Someone sent me a postcard picture of the earth. On the back it said, "Wish you were here."

Fitted new clutch cable and cleaned up lever pivots etc., regreased it and took it out for a wee run just to test all was well of course.fe A bit chilly so only did about 50 miles, everything seemed good when I got home but had to take it out for another 20 just to make sure, it's a hard life :D
