Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: mt 09
« on: 17 November 2013, 06:54:17 am »
Was at local yamaha dealers and saw the new mt 09. Better looking bike in the flesh than on print. All manufacturers are going down the route of the street triple in appearance.  Aprilia , ktm and now Yamaha are building bikes that are uber fun while making them look funky. Aprilia tuono v4r, mt 09, ktm 1290  etc... I think there is a change in the outlook for an outright fun bike. I think the days of superbikes is going in the UK. The other trend is big trailees getting big sales on our market.

The mt 09 in oz is very very well priced!!! great to see yam exploring with this config.  only negative for me is too much plastic and a tad cheap looking. well priced accordingly and i'd be very interested if funds permitted.

Great effort on the bike bike Keith, in my neck of the woods riding that I would need a CBR2000 to get away from the guys calling me a fag and wanting to put me in a display instead of letting me on the roads and possibly even chasing me with a double bladed axe  -  you all may tell me to fuck off, well at least I'm honest!!!

but your neck of the woods is Australia and isnt that the gay capital of the world... just being honest  :eek that bike gets rode all over Englan Sotland and Wales and has received more compliments than criticism so dont be offended if I tell you I dont give a shit about other peoples opinions its my bike I like naked bikes and I like the fazer hence the combination of the two  :b :b :b

Yes oz does have its gay area being Darlinghurst in Sydney.  Stay with me, yes there are open gays in some parts but not many, just in a few select areas where they don't fear being bashed. Very sad for them I'm glad I like woman as my life is easier for that. As for Sydney being the gay capital of the world I don't know one way or the other.
If you ever want let go of the forks I'd happily take them over my almost stocky FZS thou.
Great comeback by the way bet your bike could show mine up on the twisties  :lol and with the looks (unless I was wheeling past you :evil )

""""Our cans do not require a power commander or remapping, After running on a dyno we have proven increase of mid range power of 4.5BHP!"""" on a FZS1000???

This does not sound credible. If they don't know a FZS1000 isn't able to user a Power Commander how can they claim the extra power??

Tell them to fuck off.

Those forks look mean, great machine. Take the tank cover off to expose the great looking tank lines with some nice paint and I'd want to make an offer.

Wondering why you need the clutch on the right?

so long as you put the throttle on the left  :lol

I hired this bike last year. Hopefully it will be available when I go tho Phuket, Thailand late this Oct.

If it hasn't been written off by a Russian nutcase in the meantime. I was in Thailand for a couple of months this year and it seemed I couldn't open a copy of the Bangkok Post without reading reports of a Rusky getting killed on a large bike in the resorts, it would be no exaggeration to say that a dozen of these lunatics are killed every month, usually in Pattaya or Phuket.
Me, I stick to a Honda Wave, any speed over 45mph is lethal in most parts of Thailand.

I hear what you're saying.  The mainland over the bridge from Phuket is fairly safe on the highways same with up north Chiang Mai/Chiang Rai and further up. Other highways I've experienced there are utter chaos and many a time I held my breath!
The Fazer with a bit of power when you need it was reassuring.
The one I hired was well maintained. Unlike a Hornet 900 I had for a day with throttle tube damaged and wobbly, NO rear brake, shocks felt like the springs were missing, a guy at the lights pointing down to steaming water  squirting from a lower hose then nursing it back to the guy stopping a few times for the temp gauge to go back a bit. 71KMS on the clock still with a tonne of power I think they are unstoppable just hard on the rear end unlike
the Fazers, all day no probs :lol

If you truly believe they have done this allow them the opportunity to come to a solution that suits both sides.
Don't go down without a fight and hold you own ground. Don't allow the expert shop intimidate you as will be on their turf and they can use this as power.

Great recommendation the Gen1 Thou. Handling is ok and a good training bike for something like a Tuono. Must be like you just got onboard a F1 car as opposed to a Touring Car !!
The Gen 1 Thou I find is lots of fun under throttle but bit if a pig in the corners. Mine with only mod being the rear spring.
Just how on my local weekend road on an old highway a late model bike just overtakes me and flies into a corner!!! I'm not that fast a rider but I'm sure some of these guys couldn't get my Gen 1 around that fast.
But still love my Gen 1 and as we speak it is glistening from a wash and meticulous polish  :lol

You could take the cap to a linisher leaving just enough for unscrewing it.

Better in the twisties  :lol  more nimble.
But in a straight line with carbs, exhaust K&N af all in prof tuned the Gen 2 will not be left behind.

Hi all,

My Girl 1 makes a right big BANG noise as I put it in first. Is this normal and if not is it a known issue?

I have had other girls where this was caused by sticky flaps which could often be sorted by holding the tits for 5 secs before engaging first. This girl always needs quite a stomp with the lever.

Clutch feels and works fine apart from this. Gear changes can be a little clunky, but that could just be me  :rolleyes . It is an embarrassing noise too and my mechanical sympathy gland goes into spasm.

Yes I know I need help  :rolleyes

Are there any articles on lubing the EXUP valve etc on here?

There is bound to be plenty of threads.
My tip is have drill bits and an M8 Tap on hand plus M8x25 High Tensile bolts X 3.
In my case the Valves M6 bolt heads sheared off ridiculously easily really pissing me off causing an M8 re-tap.
The EXUP Cover Bolts were not so much an issue, just one breaking, but 2 have sufficed in bolting that fucker back on.

Oh, copper grease on the 3 HT bolts for easy removal next service sometime down the road. Copper grease aint cheap when you have to buy a container of it needing only need a small amount.
At my local I saw a container for an expensive price so opened the lid to see what it looked like and liked the look of it so much I scooped some of it out using my index finger. Don't tell my mother :lol

The problem is AyJay, on a 250 you would just rag it everywhere. A certain 600 rider I know with a 33 bhp limit  has to ride it on the limit to keep up, and boy does he keep up.
Mickey

What? like this guy

Ninja 250 vs. the big bikes at Laguna Seca

Have to say, that is one of the most inspiring bike vids I've ever seen.

And Boxer - keep the faith. A good one will turn up in your price range eventually!

Similar experience for me but on the road.
A guy on a Suzuki RG250 was in-front of me being slowed by a car. I was thinking this guy is a pussy just overtake him there's been a few opportunities
So I passed therm both  :lol

Then shortly after we all went over a bridge which heads into a glorious 2kms uphill fairly fast climb. Two lanes both sides of the yellows.
So I got  ;) moving through the first two sweepers gently gassing it out as not trying to be a gp hero. Then this little fucker on his 250 flew up the inside.
I though F THIS  :evil so opened up the throttle and was on his tail immediately.

I could not better his corner speed and did not speed pass him when opportunity arised so as to hold him up in the next 3 twisties.

At the Old Road Cafe he pulled in, so did I.  I had a brief chat with this young guy and paid him and his bike a compliment.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: Front brake leave feel - help pls
« on: 30 August 2013, 09:37:27 am »
Another possibility (and easier to sort) is that it might be the lever pivot needing a clean and re-grease.

Spray the point where the brake lever contacts the push rod of the master cylinder with WD40. If that  solves it, remove the lever and lightly grease that point and the piviot as Fazer rider says.. This drys up and corrodes lightly from age and washing causing the symptom you describe.

Spot on, quick squirt with the WD40 all is well. Bit of a relief wasn't looking forward to shelling out for rebuild kits and doing a messy job.
Cheers for the advice  :)

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Front brake leave feel - help pls
« on: 29 August 2013, 10:44:41 am »
My front brake lever when pulled in has a series of very small vibrations till it becomes very firm not giving much more movement.
1 of 2 things obviously // Brake Master Cylinder or Caliper Seals
Low pressure at low speed it tends to grab a bit not being very progressive in these situations. When moving along a bit faster I don't notice it.

Any clues at to which end the problem is would be appreciated. Gen 1 Thou.
