What a throughly decent chap  :lol

Everything that made you proud to be British...but unfortunately long forgotten in the last 40 years!

I'm from Bath, quite amusing to see how much the road layout has changed  :)

A fascinating little film, I loved bits like "Traffic's heavy here" when I'd be thinking "Hmm, not many cars around"!

It's a shame that idiots like that Triumph Herald Driver are still around, but the Jag driver had the right attitude and, as Skoot says, he sounds a thoroughly decent chap :)

what a wonderful clip.  8)
You know the lack of traffic on the roads then is quite dramatic...and is very redolent of rural France these days( why I love riding over there)....had to feckin chuckle at the utter asshole in that herald...feck, it aint just a modern phenomena then. Of course he probably aint got a licence in any case !   :\
also notable how few people were about in the daytime ...in those days they all had jobs !   :rolleyes .....and there were no young muffin topped tattooed up  mums with brown babies, with a phone stuck to their ear staining the pathways of society... :eek
progress eh ??

It's a Hillman

Not the guy who gives him a V-sign, the red car that appears at 5:12 and does the stupid overtake on a left-hand bend across a solid white line, then tries to wave the Jag past on a blind crest before (later on) passing him and then immediately pulling in to a lay-by on the left.

I did think the jag driver said "its  that red car again ! "

course we dont know if jag driver did any rude gestures before hand, and the red car was just catching back up to give him some of his own medicine !  :lol

Actually he said "It's That Man Again" (as in ITMA for those who know their old radio comedy shows!)

Probably he was just annoyed that the Jag gave him a couple of blasts with his horn, interrupting his day-dream as he tootled along in the "fast lane" whilst not looking in his mirrors...

That tarmac looked like an ice rink when it was wet. No wonder they claimed stopping distances were so long in the wet when they wrote the Highway Code!

What a great bit of film, made at about the time I past my car test and I enjoyed looking at all the now classic cars it brought it all back again, those were the days when you could actually enjoy your driving at a much more relaxed pace. As for the idiot who overtook some things never change but at least today's cars are a lot quicker and therefore safer on overtakes in the right hands of coarse.
When the going get's tough the tough get going.
