Need to help my folks out who live an hour away and have just reported to me a very small leek (more of a weep) from a copper pipe in their loft. Anyone recommend a decent diy product to have with me when I go?....tape....epoxy.....jubillee clips???

This goes against the grain as I can do plumbing, but have repaired stuff with ''metal putties'' and been surprised how good they are, so if your not getting in to soldiering i d go for this.

Thanks Chris...wondered about this stuff, have used similar before but not had alot of success. I guess the key is to clean/abrade the mating surface to get a good bond.

I would suggest taking These (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Plumbing-Burst-Pipe-Clamp-15mm-28mm-Emergency-Must-Have-/200680987400?pt=UK_DIY_Materials_Plumbing_MJ&hash=item2eb984db08) along...or a plumber ;)

:agree
It'll almost certainly sort it temporarily, till you can get a proper fix done - and perhaps much longer, I used some about ten years ago, and it's still holding up. Oh feck, thats torn it.... :rolleyes

I am happy to wait for the bursts to start ....happy days

If you're lucky some PTFE tape may suffice???

if your not confident with the solder use a compression joint they're easy.

Thanks for the comments, can't drain the system so it has to be an external type temp fix. Quite like the look of that fancy 'alfa tape'.
