Fazer 1000 2002 forks needed
« on: 23 May 2012, 12:31:20 pm »
I have a small leak coming from the top nut of my left fork and its an expensive part.

I'm therefore on the hunt for a replacement fork.

If anyone is breaking a fazer 1000 then please let me know.

Do you mean the top fork cap with preloader /rebound?

As I've mentioned before on another thread, I'm 99% sure the earliest R6 (99-02) is identical bar a darker anodised blue colour, might increase your search options if nothing shows up....

Examples:
Item number: 130690460917
Item number: 120916387699

Why not go to an engineering shop and get the current one re threaded? Or speak to the guy below who is selling 2002 forks or the guy talking to him about his existing fork caps?

different part numbers, if it were a common part only the model number would be different ie
5dm2580t00
4xv2580t005JJ2580T00

are all left brake calipers

Not always, a wealth of Yamaha parts are often interchangeable

I have 2003-04 R6 fork tops which I can try fitting on the Fazer's forks but cant get at it till next week

It would be immensely handy if that could be confirmed, many thanks indeed! I figured a few parts might be interchangeable given the history of the model so i guess i will keep my fingers crossed.

Thanks for all the posts guys, thats ace.

Is it leaking from the rebound adjuster or the the join between top cap and leg? If the latter there is an o-ring in there you could probably replace easily.

Panic over. The mechanic who worked on the bike last didn't screw the top in to the correct torque setting.
