For Sale & Wanted / Wanted - FZ6 S2 Chain Guide
« on: 04 May 2015, 10:52:22 am »
Anyone got one for sale (along with the bolt and spacer)

Not certain if the earlier model guide will also fit the S2 swingarm?

Drop me a PM if you have.

Thanks.

I'll get a bulb and see if the sidelight works this weekend.

With regards to the headlight flasher, that works fine!

Update - It looks like the yellow cable could be the connection for the Main Beam indicator.

Update2 - It was.  It had snapped away from a small connector.  Connected it back up and away we go.

Thanks for the info.

Odd about the cable, I'm sure my flasher switch works!  I'll try it again.

Also, it'd just had an MOT when I purchased it, but no bulb!

Now off to the shed to try the flash!

FZ6 / Fazer / A couple of headlight questions - 2008 FZ6 S2
« on: 11 March 2015, 06:03:04 am »
Following my ignition fix and the relevant tear down of the front of the bike, I noticed a couple of things regarding the headlight on my bike, can anyone answer the following:

There was a single yellow wire taped to the headlight main bulb loom, not going anywhere.  Any ideas what this could be?
No bulb in the parking/side light hole.  Should there be?

Thanks.

Yup.  Have tried some oil.  No change.

Think I'll get the barrel off and get it checked out and go from there.

Just testing the water to see if anyone has one.

I need one to use for donor parts to service my ignition, but it needs to be in good nick and not have any issues (needing a wiggle to get the key to turn, doesn't lock key in place when turned).

If you've got one and it's in good nick, PM me.  Yoke and the surrounding electrics of the barrel aren't needed (immobiliser etc).  Just a good barrel and key.

Thanks.

FZ6 / Fazer / FZ6 S2 Ignition Barrel Service / Donor parts

OK, this spring I'm going to try and sort my ignition barrel.  It's got the usual symptoms of it needing a wiggle to work and the key not staying locked in place once the ignition is switched on.

I've spoken to a few locksmiths and found one locally who says they can service my old barrel and replace the worn parts with those from a donor barrel.

My question is:  Has anyone done this and can I get away with a new cheap Chinese barrel from the bay for donor parts?

I don't really want to splash out on a second hand Yamaha barrel and find it has the same issue, if I can help it.

Yamaha say they can help, but I'll need the whole new setup (all locks, ECU, etc) for which they want around £800.00.

Thanks for any info you can give.

FZ6 / Fazer / FZ6 S2 Stickers - 2008
« on: 21 December 2014, 09:02:37 am »
I need to get some new stickers made up for my side covers but cant find the correct item listed anywhere (I'm missing both so cant compare any I do find).

Can anyone give me a heads up as to where you get your decals or even just a picture of the FZ6 logo on the side cover of your S2 bike?

Thanks.

Thanks, but I don't think the roof will be good enough.

I may have to look at an Abba stand.

Doesn't have to be in great condition, it's only going to be used when I replace my swingarm to allow me to lift the rear end off of the ground. (I assume it will allow that?).  Then it will come back off.

Let me know what you've got (or what you've done to raise the rear end instead of using a centre stand).

Thanks.

FZ6 / Fazer / Re: Replacing Ignition Barrel - Immobiliser Question

Still no luck here.

Yamaha have basically told me to contact specialist Key Cutters to see if they can repair the barrel.

So it's not just the case of getting a replacement barrel with the three keys, the keys would need to be programmed to the bike?  Or the ECU from the old bike would need to be transferred too?

There are plenty of replacement lock kits for sale, but it sounds like the job could be a nightmare.

FZ6 / Fazer / Replacing Ignition Barrel - Immobiliser Question
« on: 27 September 2014, 02:01:14 pm »
Can anyone tell me if the immobiliser is in the barrel of the ignition?

I may need to replace the barrel and wondered if I'd still need the current key to disable the immobiliser or just replace the old part with a new part and new key.

Feel free to PM me if you have questions or answers and would rather not divulge the info online.

Thanks.
