Remember that feeling when you were a kid waiting for Santa to bounce you up and down on his knee? Oh, no, sorry that's a different story. Remember waking up on Christmas morning and you couldn't wait to open those prezzies.
Well it's Christmas day today for me - collect my (new to me) Fazer :) :lol :rollin 8)
Having not had a bike for 25 years (and never having owned a Yammie) this is like Christmas. Yes weather is like Xmas too - pissing down!! Still won't dampen the spirits - yeeeehhhaaaa!
-
Have a good day IFFY :thumbup ......after a 25 year break from bikes , take it easy buddy....oh , and when you get home , dont forget the piccies ;)
-
As mentioned, go easy, but go enjoy yourself :thumbup

A few helpful memories from my Fazer days.
First gear is and always will be very clunky. Make sure the bike is in neatral before trying to start, caught me out many times.
Similarly, make sure the power off swith on the handlebars is ON !
Get in the habit of cancelling your indicator after the turn.
Make sure the kick stand is fully down before getting off the bike. That one got me once. Also, as I remember it, you can't start the bike with the stand down.
Find your nearest BIKE-SAFE run by the Police. A very worthwhile day.
Happy Foccing.

Cheers all - well 'The Admiral' is at home now all tucked up and ready for tomorrow.
Dilligaff - have a refresher course on Monday and a BikeSafe course booked for the summer.
Thanks for the advice.
Here is a pic (I hope I've posted it correctly)
Bit of a pub quiz question - anyone who guesses why 'The Admiral' can give themselves a pat on the back :rolleyes

Named after Admiral Lord Fraser ?

First gear is and always will be very clunky.
So is second on mine most of the time.

Clue: number plate

You bought it from a dealer in Nelson?

I took it to mean 1st to second change - clunky on mine anyway

I took it to mean 1st to second change - clunky on mine anyway
The correct chain tension practically gets rid of that clunk.

Nice one iffy,I saw that bike in the "for sale" section here and thought someone is going to get a great bike. That looks a real credit to its previous owner.

After 17 years of trying no adjustment works but certain revs and engine loadings are a sweet(er) spot

Sitting still at traffic lights has zero bearing on chain tension and clunkiness.
BUT, i have learned that rolling the bike forward just a few inches, (or 75mm), gets rid of the clunk when going from neutral to 1st.

OK - this is it - first proper ride for 25 years. Going to take it easy, remember all my past training and not get too excited! :eek
Everybody off the roads - NOW!

have you ever checked your cush drive rubbers in the rear wheel? if they're sloppy it can add to a clunk when you put it in gear. they're probably fine but you can check by wiggling the rear sprocket clockwise and anti clockwise and see if there's any movement

Ah yeah, that's what I meant too. First into second.
I was quite surprised by how much of a clunk it was to start with, but I'd heard that they were all like that so didn't worry about it after that.
Sometimes, although not very often, it goes in silent.
Neutral to first when stationary isn't much worse than other bikes I've had really.
