Title: For Sale 2004 FZS1000 Gen 1 - Immaculate Condition "NOW SOLD"
Post by: bigbluebear on 09 October 2015, 11:12:09 am
With an extremely heavy heart I am now selling my beloved mighty Fazer thou.....2004, "04" approx. 27.5k miles, MOT March 2016. Never been dropped crashed and have HPI report as proof.

This bike has been well and truly loved and has wanted for nothing. I have spent well over £3k in tasteful modification parts and fitting getting this bike properly sorted and runs and handles sublimely with the new suspension set up....the upgraded braking can only be described as awesome....I have had this Dyno'd at 139.52 bhp so its proper quick especially with 15 tooth front sprocket.

I have some original spare parts, exhaust in immaculate condition, rear shock in good condition, master cylinder and brake lever in good condition, rear brake disc in good condition.

I have all the old MOT's, full service history.

The bike is in immaculate condition and regularly gets comments on its condition. It gets thoroughly cleaned after each ride plenty of autosol to keep the shiny bits shiny and hundreds of man hours spent on keeping it in showroom condition....last year it was fully serviced, practically stripped down and rebuilt with many new parts....see list below.

•   Ivans MB Jet Kit (Full Monty)
•   Piper Cross Air Filter
•   Dyno’d at 140 BHP at the Back Wheel
•   4 Degree Ignition Advancer

Have to agree with the other lads.
If, (that's a big if) I was to sell mine,  07 Gen 1 with 20K on the clock and mod's galore I might at a push in prime biking season get £3500 and get jack for all the original parts, or as DY say's put it back to STD and get £2500 for the bike the best part of £2000 for the bits.
Ok it's a load of messing around selling the bits but for an extra £1000 it has to be worth it.

Yup, 05 bike I think, but first registered on 27/3/07, must be one of the last to be registered.

Last chance to buy a well sorted bike, price drop to £3,336 (or as close as to a fellow Foccer) as I've now been offered that on a trade in against the new Suzuki GSX S1000f and also the new 2016 Kawasaki Z1000sx from the same dealer.....not made my mind up yet on which one.

Tough choice on the bike you buy. i haven't read many reviews on the suzook, but i had the same engine in my gixxer k6 with a higher state of tune and it was a stonking engine! The kawa is similar in power to the fazer standard i think... I think you should test ride them both, as i think your ivanised fazer with the suspension mods may actually match both the kawa and suzuki.

+1, I would have had traded my vgc stock forks for the the K-tech'd ones.

And regarding the comments about the value, its all about what people are willing to pay. A quick look on autotrader shows that a mint/vgc gen1 with around 20-30k go for around £3k all day long. So BBB's price with all the addons is a very good price

There are many a newcomer coming on here asking advice on buying and even after buying a gen 1 asking about modifying their bikes.

You're right a good standard one will cost 2-2.5k and then spending on Ivan's jet kits at £300, rear shocks at around 400, end cans 2-300, hugger 100, belly pan 100.....spending well over £1200 before brake lines at 80, front shock internals 100. Many of you guys have even gone for R1 forks amongst many other additions too....never mind fitting costs

So I find it hard to believe on a Fazer enthusiasts forum that some on here are devaluing our bikes that have been well looked after...your own included.

Anyway it's a great time to buy from a dealer right now being end is season as I've now been offered £3,635 as they have now seen the bike and valued it as what I think it's worth.....now it's bite their hand off time

On paper, this is what I see. In fact, buying the standard bikes may even mean your Fazer has better suspension, as it seems manufacturers often cut costs in this area to get their bikes in the showrooms at attractive prices. I'd be worried about having to lay out all that dosh again, just to get where you were with the Fazer. You might change the Fazer in just to try something else, for more modern equipment, a more modern look. But I really do wonder if you'll end up with a better bike.

Oh, and inb4 "YOU'LL BE BACK!"  :lol

Dealers are such lying bastards......after nearly agreeing a deal on the new 2016 Z1000sx....I have now been told the trade in price of £3,635 was against a pre-registered 2015 model not for the new 2016 model.......so back to selling my FZS1000 privately now.....will listen to sensible offers.

See there's the catch the dealer had made your trade in look good by putting £1k on it,  all he was doing is mixing the figures around so you thought you was getting a good deal when in essence you was probably paying over the top for the pre-reg 15 model.

This is what £3800 buys. Low miles as well and minta then a mint thing .

The original offer was the 2016 model with the slipper clutch......when I turned up to seal the deal he tried to pap me off with the pre reg 2015 model. I know how these things work with fudging the figures, as least the Suzuki deal was a genuine brand new unregistered bike.

Your Fazer has balls and looks stunning the Suzuki is neither fowl nor beast the Knacker perked my interest till I test rode one, less back wheel power than yours, less grunt and loads less charisma (balls)keep her

+ 1 regarding the z1000sx. I thought about one, but it is no better than a gen 1 with mods and has less power with all the emission regs...........

Still got it.....pondering my options.....GSX-S1000f quite small and compact.....Z1000sx is a bit bigger but not by much....While I fancy something a bit more modern with ABS, Traction Control, Slipper Clutch etc....and a bit more leg room.....being 6'3" and 16st there is not that much out there that offers sports bike like performance that is roomy, comfortable and some street cred to boot.

This could be worse that Noggy the Nogster new bike quest!!!!!

There's always the s1r. Being 6'3" it would suit you no problem especially with the 'comfort' seat which adds another 20mm to the seat height.
I moved from the gen1 to gen2 to it so can vouch for the easy transition.

I was in a similar situation to you with regards selling the fazer, they're not nearly as well thought of by those who've haven't owned them. I sold my well modded gen2 at way under ( to me ) it's true value. My consolation of course was seeing the s1r sat there in the garage.

I've been thinking about swapping my RSV for a Tuono 1100 Factory, but seeing BBB's Fazer makes me thing we need 3 Fazers in the family (and I should keep the RSV).

Not sure what Liz would think though, she's always telling me we need less bikes, rather than more - and she's right really as most of them rarely get used, because the Fazers are such brilliant all-round bikes and BBB's looks awesome.

seriously though a triple seems like the best compromise..............the thou was a bit too much than I needed....too much weight, didn't need the crazy top end yet paid the price with weight, my twin has character and is cool but at times with overtakes it isn't quite enough..................Triples then would seem perfect although ive yet to try one

if you don't like Triumph Speed Triples then there is of course the Tracer as has been mentioned.....seems the natural way to go...high up, fairing, quick without being heavy...............but after such a bling gen 1 youd need to factor in a suspension upgrade for the Tracer straight away.

The Tracer is too adventure style for my liking....all my mates have Fireblades, S1000RR, ZZR14's and a very nice but tiny Panigale....so I need to keep up when the red mist and red line gauntlet gets thrown down.....my old Fazer does okay with the Ivans kit and the 15 tooth front sprocket but its the oldest and I want something a bit more modern while the wife approves the spend.....before she spends it on stupid Xmas pish.

Too vibey and compact for my size.....I nearly bought a ZX12r a few years ago that had the flat bar conversion...so I could go for a ZZR14 or a Busa and do the same conversion.....but they are not as flickable

Looks like I'm buying privately and have a couple of bikes lined up......meaning my FZS1000 bike is now back available for sale......£3,250 would do it and that is a real foccin bargain for what it is.

Looks like I'm going down the Z1000sx route on a private sale. No rush to sell mine and may have to wait until the spring......or even keep it.

The z1000sx is a good looking bike in the green/black, but it will be down on power compared to your ivanised fazer... Test ride it thoroughly before handing over any cash.

It is the green and black one and far too good a price to ignore.....I know it will be down on power a bit but there are modifications can than increase it....Ivans ECU Flash and Power Commander.....can get an extra 26HP or 11hp with slip on......new project to fuck about with

A pity they don't do it in a nice blue to match your team ;) ,  :lol but kawa's do look great in green. All the best with your new bike. The z1000sx does look far more modern than the fazer. What year and model is it?

With buses / trains / planes / boats there's really no excuse it's just adds to the adventure.

I totally agree, it's more the time factor than the distance, looking on google it's about 450 miles away. I remember picking up an old xt600 tenere about 200 miles away, dragging the Mrs & baby out in the early hours of the morning, then the foccing thing wouldn't start after 20 miles from picking it up, finally got it going again and got a puncture another 20 miles down the motorway! That turned out to be a long day, but well worth all the hassle. The wife doesn't think so for some reason!

I've had her for 3 glorious years and two owners.....never skipped a beat apart from a new servo motor.......better off hiring a van in this weather.....that's how I'm picking up my new bike......don't do winter or rain, done that in my youth when my bike was my only mode of transport.

Breaks my heart even more now that I'm thinking about breaking her down to sell off as a standard bike now.....and only a couple of hundred less

We all try and make these bikes handle and perform better, spending a shit load of money and time in the process, yet there is no monetary value only personal.....fucking real shame I tell ya.

This bike is worth £3k all day long with standard original rear shock, original exhaust, original master cylinder, original indicator lenses, no belly pan, no rear hugger, no chrome radiator guard, no chrome yolk cover, no chrome frame plugs and no crash bungs.

These bits will soon be up for sale separately

Wrong time of year for selling, especially with all this flipping rain.

He should really store it until March

Good bikes like this don't come round that often and makes the travel to get it worth it, hire a van for 12hrs only cost you £60, don't have another regret on an 04 fazer
