Att: LOFO's....Whitstable Toy Run Dec 1st.
« on: 04 November 2019, 10:41:45 am »
Just a headsup if anyone's at a loose end on Sunday Dec 1st. The annual toy run to Queen Elizabeth Queen Mother childrens ward in Margate, meets as from 12 noon to leave at 13:30, at Tankerton Road car park CT5 2AS. Donations or toys are gratefully collected at the car park. Expect I'll go from the Oakdene via the Airport cafe on A20 for breakfast.

Excellent. I'll let you know a time nearer the date.  My pal Vern will no doubt go too.

Hi Robbo, already on my calendar.  If it's not raining I'm in!   :)

The plan is to get to the Oakdene for 9:15, which will give us time for a drink. Then A and B roads to the Airport Cafe on A20 for breakfast. Then over the top via Canterbury to Whitstable. The forecast at present a low risk of showers at the Oakdene, whilst any showers at Whitstable should have ended by the time we get there.
HH, if you don't fancy the Oakdene meet, we could meet you at the Airport Cafe just after 11 at a guess.

I've got to take my little-un to hockey in the morning so may have to meet you at Whitstable.

Ok see you at the carpark. My pal has bailed on me with another commitment, so will possibly be on my own. Nothing different there then :'( .

I'm going to try and make this. Could do with getting the old girl out.  Wait and see how cold it is and what my night shift body clock is dictating to me.

It's looking dry, and if it stays dry I'm in.  I don't mind the cold.  Just don't want to get the bike wet this time of year because it won't dry in the garage.

I should be home from hockey at 1115 tomorrow so I can be on the bike for 1130

Robbo, do you want to head over to Sittingbourne/Iwade to meet myself and Dazza or meet in Whitstable?

The toy run leaves at 1.30pm

Are we doing fish and chips in Whitstable before?

I'm planning on a late breakfast at the Airport cafe on A20, so no doubt see you at the carpark in Whitstable around 1ish. Haven't heard from Mr.Crazy yet. Will wait at the Oakdene until 09:45.

The Oakdene carpark was like a boating lake, needless to say mine was the only bike there until a Tracer splashed it's way in as I was leaving. Had a good ride on mainly B roads to the Airport Cafe. The place was heaving as usual but only 3 other bikes were there. On leaving I discovered the only road to Canterbury from that area was closed. Kent seems to be one massive diversion at the moment. Eventually the satnav sorted me out an alternative route, and was soon exiting Canterbury en route for Whitstable. Found Adrian in the non moving drinks/burger queue, and by the time he'd got served there was no time to eat as the bikes started to leave at 13:30, so something chocolatey got chowed down in record time. The route follows the coast west as much as possible, with plenty of hardy souls braving the chill to support the procession of bikes. A quick cup of tea and a biscuit at the hospital and it was back on the bike and heading for home. Within 15 minutes of leaving, the rain started, which to be fair, was on the radar. No point in searching out a twisty route home, so it was M2/M25 and home. Other than the rain at the end, it had been a good day to be out on the bike with another 190 miles added to the Triumph.
