Fzs1000 brake pad shim
« on: 17 June 2014, 09:02:02 pm »
I've just stripped and cleaned my front brakes whilst my wheels were out having new tyres fitted and I seem to have a steel front brake pad shim missing, has anybody got one kicking about that they don't need or is it a trip to the dealers.
Cheers
Andy

I found a few in the garage, don't know why I kept them. I can post them to you if you want.

However if you buy a new set of pads they usually come with them, since you will have to replace the pads at some stage, buy a set and take the shim off and use it until the pads are worn and swap it back to the new pad when replacing later on.

Oh, okay thanks. I guess my next post will be who is using which pads. Perhaps I might just get yamaha ones as I suspect the ones fitted could be the originals.
Thanks
Andy

The yamaha ones are good but the EBC HH or SBS HS are probably more freely available and are just as good.

I have found the organic one to soft and need more pressure for the same braking effort.
