FZS600 Fazer / Re: Tyre recommendation

Given the age of the bike and your requirements, I'd say that Bridgestone BT 023 tyres would be more than sufficient for your needs, without blowing the budget

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: 2005 Fazer Thou Ignition Barrel - What else will fit?

Can I ask a question please. My 04 Fazer does not have  switch for turning off the lights. They come on when I start the bike and I can turn on high beam. Am I correct to say the ignition barrel I want has two plugs, one with 2 wires and one with 5 wires. Thanks

FZS600 Fazer / Tyre recommendation
« Last post by Camarade on 18 March 2024, 01:22:16 pm »
Hi all,
It's time to re-shoe the '98 Fazer and was hoping for some recommandations for the best choice of tyre. No track days or knee down antics. Mostly A/B roads in spring, summer, autumn

Currently wearing, Front: Pirelli Diablo 110/70 ZR 17 MC 54W

Rear: Metzler 160/60 ZR 17 MC (69W)

Any ideas?

  • I have been looking for ignition barrels on eBay for a week and could not find anything. I even looked at other eBay sites.
  • I checked the Chinese ones and they are not wired correctly, I need two plus, one has 2 wires and the other has 5 wires. I think that is for the lighting, I cant turn the lights off, they are on dip all the time.
  • I think its prolly just the search terms you used, mine were 'fzs1000 lock set'.That and the intenet can be a bit feminin mood swings and give you different data on different days.
  • Well you could just d-pin the connectors, but if the circuit board is different you can just use your existing oem one in the new barrel.
But I suggest just buying that used OEM set.

b1k3rdude, you amaze me. I have been looking for ignition barrels on eBay for a week and could not find anything. I even looked at other eBay sites.

I have messaged the lockset advert, I'm a bit worried the ignition barrel is stiff, was that the reason it was provided as a spare when the bike was bought? Its expensive if the lock is no better than mine.

Thank you for your input, much appreciated.

As this question has come up a lot, look for either a used or new 3rd party complete lockset on Ebay -

Thanks PieEater. I’ll give that a go. I’ve got some Wurth Dry Chain Lube.
Not sure if chain lube would be the right thing, this is more like what I was thinking of - www.amazon.co.uk/WD-40-Specialist-PTFE-Lubricant-Spray/dp/B00KPUBO5A/
