82k on the Fazer! That's a good load of miles, was there a regular commute that contributed?

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: V trec shorty levers
« on: 23 December 2016, 10:20:32 am »
What's the advantage of shorter leavers other than aesthetics? Do they take more effort to operate than longer levers due to there being less distance to the pivot?

I have short levers on mine too btw, was just wondering.

Cheers

Ah I see, good for someone who wants to custom their own high level can onto the Fazer. I've not come across the Yoshimura, had a look at the holeshot which looks decent. Not specifically in the market for one but may buy if one came up that I liked the look of.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/201656990893

Found the above item on eBay, just wondered if anyone has come across these before? I can't work out where these would sit on the Fazer, doesn't look long enough to be a high mount (and doesn't specify as with other high mounts from this seller) but doesn't look like most other link pipes I've seen?

Thanks in advance

Yeah always makes for interesting reading,

I've had 115 bikes since starting riding nearly 30 years ago

3.83 bikes per year  :eek

Maybe I should start a bikes per year thread too...

Definitely a difficult time, hope the next couple weeks are more peaceful than the last few for you.

It's hard work losing friends after many years together. I dread to think of the night when collie goes away

Crikey, some of you must have a seriously enlarged hippocampus to remember all those bikes and years!  :lol

Thanks to all who posted so far

I'm always interested to read about people's bike ownership history and the journey they have been on to arrive at their current bike or collection of bikes, so in the interest of discovering the sort of bikes us Fazer owners have previously owned I have started this thread.

A simple list from start to present is good, and if you want to expand with explanation/photos at any point, even better! Ok, I'll begin. Prepare for a rather unusual and somewhat repetative v twin onslaught ...

2004 - present

Honda NSR125 (92)
Kawasaki GPZ500 (02)
Honda Firestorm (98)
Yamaha R1 (99)
Honda Firestorm (02)
Aprilia RSV Mille (02) crashed
April RSV Mille (01)
Aprilia Falco (01)
Aprilia Falco (00) stolen  :'(
Aprilia Falco (01)
Honda SP2 (03)
Aprilia Tuono (03)
Yamaha Fazer (04)

Had plenty of sports V twins so sticking with this lovely Fazer thou I have just purchased!

Feel free to post your bike ownership history below, the year you owned your first bike and the production year of each bike would helpful for readers.

Thanks in advance!

Ah sounds good! Have you had a chance to get out on it yet? I'm checking the market daily for new adverts, it's a good time of year to buy.

Hello all,

After many years of sports v twins and aching wrists I have settled on the Fazer gen1 as a long term bike, having previously owned an R1 and enjoying the smooth power delivery.

My last bike was an Aprilia Tuono which was good but the lack of wind protection and bolt upright riding position took the edge off the riding, and in all honesty, I could just do with a change. I have always liked the Fazer and by all accounts it appears to be a very capable machine.

So here I am now on the hunt for one, willing to spend between 2 - 3k although the closer to 2 the better 😁 I'm looking for a reasonably well sorted one with good service history. Checking all the usual places, eBay, bike trader, gumtree, mcn and the for sale section here, but if you hear of anything going through the grapevine please let me know.

Thanks very much and I look forward to some Fazer shopping!

Mark
