But I due need to check the cam chain tensioner…

FZS600 Fazer / Naked or not
« on: 30 May 2021, 09:53:59 pm »
Hi chaps some thoughts please

Recently got a fazer as for the wife to practice on as she wants to do her test… :eek
Got it cheap as it was a cat N a few years backfor body work damage… but it has been mot ed for the last four years with out issues
fairing is cracked and grazed but is repairable..
I’m going to respray myself as the paint word is crap
I have taken the fairing off and the bracket is bent (forks and frame are good )
Headlight will need replacing as the the reflector is peeling and the bulb shield cap is rattling….
And headlight are shite anyway…

Question is do I make it a naked or not
Bearing in mind the cost to put it back to standard, and it’s going to be used as a learner bike (so likely to be dropped again…
I know the resale value will be less for a naked but seeing that it is a former cat n I don’t expect to get much for it if a do decide to get rid ..

What is the process for turning it naked…  :eek
Headlight, brackets etc…
Any info or pics or thoughts  would be greatly appreciated

Thanks….

FZS600 Fazer / Oil leak …
« on: 15 May 2021, 01:25:23 pm »
Hello people…

Had the bike ticking over today for about 10 minutes
And noticed some oil on the floor it appears to be coming from around the exhaust manifold area…
On the side the TPS is on (as only just got the bike not up to speed yet , so not sure if that is cylinder 1 or 4 )
It’ not major leak just a few drips but would like to sort it .. also need to check valve clearance as it a bit tappy..

I have not had time to give it a good clean yet so I can get a better idea of the actual area it’s leaking from..
On a plus note the exhaust header bolts look quite new , so I might be able to take the exhaust off without any issues…
Any thoughts……

Hi chaps a'nd ladies….

New to the fazer  got myself a little project bike 2001 bike for a decent price..
It was previously a cat n write of in 2017 (light damage non structural) was a bit dubious at first but thought what the hell.
It has been mot,d every year since with no advisory’s
It is really quite clean and has done 44k , but could do with the tank and plastics re-sprayed, as they are a bit faded and. Scratched.
Does need a new TPS and carb rubbers but other than that it looks pretty good 😊
Planning to do all the work myself.
So any advice and things to look out for will be greatly appreciated …
