General / Re: Dynojet maps
« on: 07 December 2016, 12:38:13 pm »
Hi Dude

The maps on the official dynojet website have typically been created on their rolling road facility so they should be spot on for the given criteria mentioned.

I have used maps off there before and had no bother. I have also had my bike at Dynojet to produce maps (free of charge) for them to add to their list of available maps.

Go for it and if you are not happy it will be a starting point for getting a bike specific map done at your nearest dyno centre. Remember all bikes are different and you will get slightly different readings etc on different dynos.

After taking my Gen2 FZ1S to Ian Bells, I now have 141bhp at the rear wheel and power delivery is as smooth as can be. Awesome.

Here's one to compare with .....

http://www.ianbellmotorcycles.com/locator/588412/2011-yamaha-fazer-8-800cc.aspx

I always found my FZ8 to be very comfortable, flexible and easy to ride. If you wanted a sedate pace then ride at the lower end of the rev range and if you wanted to push on a bit then stick 3-4000 revs on - the motor was smooth and handling was never an issue once the original tyres had been replaced with something a tad more grippy. A decent shock also helped.

A vastly under-rated motorbike in my opinion.

You sure you have got the link pipe the right way round?

Hi Smurfbud,
That looks the business. I'm swapping e-mails with Dale at the moment, so that's the route I'll no doubt go as it saves taking the bike to a pipe bender to take measurements etc. Love it.

Good luck Robbo .. Dale is good to work with .... I am sure you will get a satisfactory result. I did for my old FZ8 as well as my FZ1-S.
Post some pix when sorted mate

I imported my H/L link pipe and bracket from Dale at Holeshot as I couldn't find anyone doing them in the UK. I already had a spare SP Engineering can which fits no bother.  Its a great set up in my opinion.

Great looking Gen2 there.

Why thank you kind sir ..... I like it .... had a set of PR4s fitted on Thursday and done a complete front brake caliper service/clean today ready for the coming season. Got a new Nitron to put on to replace the Ohlins (too high a spring rate) and thats me all ready for 2016

Hi buddy,

I have the givi quick release tank ring and tank bag - the bag doesnt sit on the tank itself so no damage to your tank and it comes off dead easy for filling up. You can get various size bags depending on your requirements.... seem to do the job very well for me so far

Apologies to the Op - after taking my rear wheek off for a tyre change and having a look see I indeed stand corrected - yep a needle roller bearing on the cush drive side - this might indicate knacked cush drive rubbers or misalignment of the wheel, ie not running true.

« on: 13 December 2015, 03:02:42 pm »
Not today, but only just reconnected back online, so I'm gonna tell you anyway :D
Last week, I finally got around to giving the bike a thorough wash, and ACF'd the living daylights out of it, so at last it was ok to get out on the road again.

I had planned just a short loop, Alston, Penrith and home. Good ride across to Alston, stopped for a coffee, then headed south towards Penrith. That took me over Hartside Top, so accidentally stumbled upon the Hartside cafe - I knew it was on one of these roads around here somewhere, but didn't know it's exact whereabouts, so that's one little bit of local orientation sorted  :)   Cafe closed, and a foccing stiff, cold wind howling across the top, so just a brief pause to take in the view, then off again.
These roads will be fun come summer!

You are just across the A69 from me and Hartside is a regular ride out for us so maybe we can meet up next summer

Got a couple of bikes given the ACF50 treatment by Les from Allweatherbiker this weekend - did a great job of cleaning and spraying for winter protection at £65 a bike - not a bad price at all given the attention to detail he provides ...

Hope the water levels reduce so you can get out n about soon
cheers

I quite like the high mount exhaust.  I think I will try and source one to replace my Akro.   :)

I see the Akra has been sold ... does that mean you have gone for a high level option ?

Fazer8 / FZ8 / Re: R6 throttle tube on FZ8

The R6 throttle tube has less radial movement for the same full throttle range so it is more responsive and takes out any slack in the throttle cables ...

You can have my tube for nowt if you want to go down this route ...

cheers

I have 2 exhaust systems available if you are interested ......

A high level variant (Holeshot link pipe with an SP Engineering carbon end can) or a Mivv Suono carbon system ....... both in excellent condition and both make a huge difference to the bike

good luck

General / Re: speeding..................or not
« on: 14 October 2015, 09:06:29 am »
Definitely ask for the photo so you can identify who was driving given that the vehicle has multiple drivers ..... this will give you the evidence that they have ...... you can then make an informed decision from that point onwards. Also ask for the speed camera calibration certificate as they have been known to be out of date and therefore ineligible as evidence.

In many police force areas across the country, it is an agency that man the speed vans, and as is the same for speed cameras, the data is passed onto a reviewing police officer to decide upon which instances are sent forward for prosecution.

The legal limit for prosecution is speed limit x 1.1+1, ie 34 in a 30mph zone, 45 in a 40mph zone and 67 in a 60mph zone. I believe it is the same for motorways too, but there is a tendency to be a little more lenient and use 80mph otherwise the courts would be completely full.

There are numerous reasons why intended prosecution is withdrawn. Contesting the NIP dictates that the authorities take a second look at the evidence they have compared with your reason & any evidence you have for not pleading guilty. They then make an informed decision on whether to proceed or not. Many cases are dropped simply because the offender contests the NIP and it is a borderline speed - such as yours.

If the authorities decide to proceed, you get your opportunity to present your evidence and reasoning to the judge - you dont need to engage a solicitor but it would be much better to do some homework to identify previous cases where the use of tachographs have proved to be reliable evidence against the accusation. Have your tacho calibration dates and certs available (compare calibration of tacho requirements against calibration of speed camera requirements). Demonstrate your speed on a map showing other speed limits to prove you are basically a speed abiding driver. Details of your driving history may or may not prove beneficial too (depending upon your previous !!), ie 20 yrs without a ticket, miles driven per year etc etc

I am sure more knowledgable others will identify areas for consideration that I have omitted ............ good luck and keep us informed ........
