Thats a what tyres are best what oil should I use type question, you will get lots of differing answers.
Answer the following questions and you might get an answer closer to what you need
- What is your budget
- Do you want new or will you accept second hand
- What material do you want (stainless, Titanium, Carbon)
- High level or normal
- Full size can, small can or one of the other styles
- How loud do you want to go
One thing that is often quoted is that a 2" hole is a 2" hole and the performance will be within a few BHP what ever can you get. But the full size can will be much quieter and when you put a road legal baffle is the stubby cans you will lose some power throughout the range. Will you notice a few BHP here or there who knows.
If you intend commuting on your bike or doing a lot of miles (touring) buy the best quality you can afford and go quiet. Noise that is fun on a sunny Sunday blast get right on your nerves after a few hundred miles of Motorway or Autobahn.
I have an Akrapovic titanium race can on mine which is quiet enough to pass its MOT every year, I do get it done at the local Ducati dealer though :D
Good luck

Have to agree with Tmation, it's very much a personal thing.
For me it has to be Staintune, quality product that although expensive last the test of time.
I have one on my current 1000 had one on my first 1000 which was believed to be the first on a 1000 in the UK and I've had one on my VFR.

Tmation said it all, Stu. In general, you'll find shorter cans tend to give a bit more at peak rpm but at the expense of a little off the low end. It's a back pressure thing. :)
As an aside, please check your PMs and get back to me via e-mail to arrange details of your 'Ivanising' appointment in September. Thanks.

I've got a Mivv (Italian make) on mine baffle in at the moment as I'm doing a lot of long runs up around where I live in Scotland (and with the baffle out gets on my tits) but without it has a nice growl..... :) lovely bit of kit and only cost me £151 with delivery from Italy....brand new.... :D

No picture of the exhaust on the Fazer 1000, but we've got another blue Flame oval twin spout which is pretty much the same as this one that we've got on the Fazer 600.
It's got removable baffles and blanking cap so that you can have it a bit noisier than standard with a nice rumble, a bit noisier, a bit noisier still, or loud (yep, 4 settings). Build quality wise, we've found them to be excellent. I've had on on my Aprilia RSV since early 2005,one on the Fazer 1000 since 2008, and one one the Fazer 600 since 2012. The RSV has done mostly track riding, lots of revs and because of the baffle combination it's never failed a noise test (and they all have the road legal stamps), and there's no sign of any problems/rot.
All in all, brilliant pipes, look good, lighter than standard, sound better than standard, don't rust or rot..... and very reasonably priced. I'd recommend them to anyone.

Scorpion Red Power carbon. Before Ivanising, I think I noticed a little more top end with maybe a slight loss lower down, but nothing significant. I'm also sure it's been getting louder lately :b
I'm not sure about it looks-wise now; carbon, yes, I like. But I think the link pipe looks too long, perhaps the can itself too. Might consider a carbon SP Engineering can at some point. Then again, I do like the way it follows the lines of the subframe and tail unit.

Scorpion Red Power here too:

Its a change of the jets in the carbs for a set of "Ivan's Performance" jets:
There is a guide to fitting the kits on pats site:

Or alternatively, you can hope that Mike the Bike (Falcon269) is visiting near you on an ivanising trip at some point (or travel to Scotland next month when he will be here :D)

Hi, your bike looks stunning!
bit of OT, I am sorry for that, but did you put the forks down with any special tool?
