Yep, replace ASAP! Last thing you want is a sticking throttle, it's Friggin petrifying, and it always happens when your going too fast in the wrong place at the wrong time!!!

 :agree

Wemoto do Slinky Glide cables which are good  :thumbup
My 'pull' throttle cable snapped the other day in the middle of no where (75kms from home) but I managed to get the bike and myself safely home. Don't know if the cable's been replaced before. When I bought this bike it had about 75k kms and it is now just over 100k kms so its not bad going if this is the original cables.

Anyhow, as was suggested, I too ordered both replacement 'Slinky Glide' cables from Wemoto, and looking to have them installed soon. Wemoto, I highly recommend their services and assistance.

Now for the hard part installing and the old cables! Hope the removal of the carburettors is not going to cause me grief.  :'(

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Wiring GPS to ignition switch

Hi all.

I would now like to hard wire my GPS to Gen1 and am wondering if anyone's done the same to their ride or at least point me to the source/guide so I can have it done myself.

Cheers

Thanks all, and sorry for this very very delayed response....I did as suggested and, yes, that solved the problem. Just topped up with more oil, just above the high level mark and problem solved.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Engine oil light
« on: 12 December 2015, 05:35:17 am »
Hi all,

I recently had my engine oil and filter, for my 2001 Gen1, changed prior to doing a 2000+ Km ride. On my homeward leg, I noticed the engine oil light coming on but goes off as soon as I cut back on the revs. Pulled over a couple of times during ride to check the oil levels but that seems fine, and it doesn't seem to be burning oil. Also had my mate look out for tell tale 'blue' smoke out the back but there wasn't any.  :o

Anyone experience similar issues like this on their ride? And is it my engine oil sensor playing up and needs replacing?

Thanks

Hi fatbloke62
Sorry to hear about your Dad...Yes you ought to follow his lead. Don't know where he spend most of his time but if you make it to Perth, you'd won't get home-sick! There are so many English/Welsh/Scottish who now live here. One thing for sure, the rain here is pretty scarce but is most welcomed when she does come. Having spent nearly 20 years in Malaysia I do miss those seasonal torrential rains, and the riding in the storm!

Keep in touch if ever you decide to come visit

Hello all, thought I'd do the right thing and say hello. I have been lurking since I bought my Gen1 about 3 months ago to compliment the Honda Blackbird I already had.  :lol But sadly 6 weeks ago, some low life managed to sneak into our basement garage and helped himself to the BB.  :'(

Back to the FZS1000... I love this bike, and have always wanted one. especially for its looks. The bike is stock except for the after-market end can. She started life All-Blue but that's been changed to Matt-Black except for the front fairing. Looks aside, after a couple weekends of suspension tweaking she now rides as I like it, far and fast!- 500kms days are now a walk in the park. Prior to this, she was almost impossible to ride. and I've often wondered if that's the reason the previous owner won't pick up or return my calls... :b , when I just wanted him to just take it for a run just so he could feel the transformation. I guess he will never know.

I had originally wanted to do the R6 shock conversion after reading it on this forum, but I don't feel that it will be necessary after all my tweaking- but we'll see how that goes when I start riding further 2-Up. My BB was previously setup for distance runs 2-Up, how will this Gen1 cope with that task?

I guess only time will tell if its up for that role...
