Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: hesitation when opening throttle
« on: 17 November 2011, 06:07:41 pm »
Forgot to add that when starting the bike i have to open the throttle a touch or it won't start. (Don't have to do that on my other fazer) Tickover is smooth enough, no misfiring. It also has the ivan's carb kit and 108'000 miles! :eek :eek

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / hesitation when opening throttle
« on: 17 November 2011, 05:56:36 pm »
I've got an issue with my gen 1 fazer when i snap open the throttle it hesitates then picks up. if i roll the throttle open it's fine It seems worse when its cold. I noticed the exup valve was out of adjustment, so corrected it, i also set the throttle position sensor. The way i did it was that you raise the revs to 3800 rpm then adjust until the revs are at max then tighten turn off then on and adjust tick over. Both of the adjustments didn't seem to make much difference :rolleyes  Any ideas?

Forgot to add that i ordered on 9th sept NOT 9th aug. Delivery time was 9 weeks. Worth the wait regarding quality. Off out with the missus for a drink or 10. Its my birthday! Cheers, Nick  :lol

Hi Mike, looking at the pics of both cable tie's carbon and mine i would say that his are glossier. The one's i have are glossy enough to show the carbon clearly, but not overly 'sheeny' The carbon that zero limits uses is from japan. The director i spoke with kept telling me i would be very happy with the product. He was right about that, shame about the timescale! Bike is locked away for winter, so wasn't worried when they arrived, was more worried if they arrived. Happy outcome :D . Might buy the carbon sidepanels :rollin And wait and wait :rollin Cheers, Nick.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Arrived ! Pics
« on: 11 November 2011, 04:16:39 pm »
My carbon bits have finally arrived! Ordered on the 9th aug delivered on the 11th nov.... The saga has ended.. well maybe not. The Quality is the best i have ever purchased ' my gixxer has loads of carbon, but none of this quality. The parts bolted straight on with no mods. No overlaping bits, no bubbles, no imperfections at all. If 'and its a BIG if' you don't mind to wait a minimum of 8 weeks i would highly recommend buying from zero limits. Customer service ain't great 'different reasons why your bits haven't arrived etc..' But the stuff will arrive eventually. I got a 20% discount for the wait :) Total cost for air box covers and radiator heat shields £98.22 Here are some pics of parts and a before and after.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: Ais removal
« on: 07 November 2011, 05:02:02 pm »
Hi Nicko

The only thing you need to remove is the petrol tank and the HT coils. Put a towel or rag over the cam cover to stop the AIS assy scratching it. As the AUIS assy is never going to go back on and fit fore the bin this is how I did it.

1. remove petrol tank and HT coils and placed some old tshirts over the cam cover.
2. using side cutters I cut the rubber tubes that connect the AIS to the AIS pipes.
3. undue/remove allen bolts that hold AIS pipes in situe, then the 10mm bolts that mount the AIS unit to the frame
4. with either a long reach flat blade screw driver or an 8mm socket and extension, loosen the jubilee screws on the end of the AIS pipes.
5. gently and patiently to remove AIS pipes, taking car not sratch the frame or the cam cover. (I had to rotate the pipes in a few directions before they came out.) The AIS come in pairs, left and right sides as you look down at the bike.
6. Then the final job is to the gently and patiently to remove AIS unit, this took  me 15-20 mins to get the right rotation and angle to get the unit out without scratching anything.

Job done, I have to do/show a local foccer to how to do it so if you like I can take pics.?!

Cheers for the info for doing it your way, however i'm probably going to leave it until spring when my other bikes are back on the road. I'm using it most days for work and its not a necessity at the moment. Thanks again for going to the trouble of typing out all the excellent info. I will keep a note, so that its easier for when i do get round to it! :)

I agree with your shout regarding timescale Dave, but if the quality is really good, then i would rather pay their prices and wait 8 weeks than pay through the nose for something of similar quality. Don't get me wrong if the quality is sh*t it will go straight back and i will be the first to slate them on every forum i'm linked with. Cheers, Nick. Ps.. The Long saga continues :rollin :rollin :rollin :rollin :rollin :rollin :rollin :rollin Won't be laughing if i get pi**ed about anymore it will be  :'( , then  :evil :evil :evil :evil :evil  Anger.

Just received an e-mail about the rest of my order. The rest of the order has arrived and it will be posted first thing monday morning. Let you know about quality once received, then its up to yourselves if you want to wait ages for them to arrive. The director i spoke to has also changed the terms and conditions, so that any issues that may arise that you are not entirely happy with you will receive 100% refund no questions. He is also going to stock fazer parts in england for quicker delivery, as he didn't realise there would be such a demand. If i decide to use them again i would prepare myself for 6 - 8 weeks....

The quality of you German carbon  looks excellent. Nice one. I have had an update to my order! My radiator heat shields have arrived at the shop, but still waiting on air box covers. They even sent pics of the actual heat shields. I spoke with one of the directors about where there carbon comes from etc.. The carbon comes from Japan and is manufactured in their Chinese or Korean factories. They also have a factory in England (uses same carbon) for bespoke stuff. The delay is because of the recent problems in Japan, so materials are taking time to come through. I have been assured that the quality is as good as any other manufacturer. I will update once i have them in my hands and can give them a proper going over. Here's pics of my rad heat shields.

Finally got through using ringback... Apparently my stuff is at customs and should be delivered to zero limits tomorrow or wednesday. The guy checked the order of stuff at customs and said my stuff was in the boxes. They bl**dy better be!! :evil  Hopefully i will have them by the end of the week... Let you know how i get on. If i don't get them this time i will have to give up and get a refund.. never mind the 20% discount for fooking me about.

Panels have just arrived, quality seems good and I will try to get some pictures taken and posted up (may take a few days)  :)

Any joy with the pics? Tried calling zero limits today, phone was engaged for over an hour and gave up. :(

For Sale & Wanted / shock, indicators & coils
« on: 29 October 2011, 09:50:17 pm »
Hi selling a shock off my gen 1 that was removed in its first year with only 1500 approx, coils in good working order and a set of used front indicators.  http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/140628596036?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649#ht_500wt_1287

I'm with cable tie on this one. Shocking customer service etc... Hopefully they will arrive by the end of next week and they will be great quality and i won't care about the very very long wait!!!!!! :rollin If i didn't laugh i would :'( Time for some nice vino :b  ................burp.........

1639
I just hope the quality is good. I could have bought the air box covers cheaper from France (Fleabay), but the rad guards were a lot more expensive. I decided on this company thinking they were British, so if there was an issue with quality i could return them with no problems. I bought carbon fibre stuff for my gsxr 1000 k6 from a company called world of carbon. The quality was shockingly bad. They had to send 3 replacements before i was even vaguely happy, bubbles in complete lacquering etc.... Here's hoping the quality is much better and the wait was worth it!!!!!

1640
Still waiting..................... :( If they are in the order about to be dispatched from far east and not the one still to be made..  i may get them by the end of next week (10 weeks).  They are now saying that the company only send out items when the order is big enough. They will run out of excuses soon me thinks.. I believe that this company are a couple of people who are buying stuff cheap from the far east adding there 'commission' and selling on for a profit. 'basically they have no control over shipping time and quality. I dread to think what would happen if i had to return stuff !!! :'( Keep you all posted when 'if' they arrive.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: Link pipe size question
« on: 25 October 2011, 07:22:31 pm »
I had an akrapovic with a 60mm link pipe and a 450mm can, The outlet spout was 50mm. I changed it to a a delkevic with a narrower 51mm link pipe and a shorted 225mm can, the outlet spout is 60mm. The delkevic is substantially louder. I don't think the link pipe is going to make much difference, its the length/diameter of the can that makes it louder/quieter. 8)

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: Full Monty
« on: 19 October 2011, 10:23:25 pm »
The full monty requires just a race can NOT a full system. The full monty also requires a bmc or k&n air filter. The differences between both types of ivans kit are that the full monty requires modification of the air box/ carb rubbers and a different carb kit to the slip on kit(i think! :\ ) The slip on kit requires the original air filter,as it would run lean with a k&n, but a race can or one that lets the bike breathe better than the original is probably required. Get the full monty if you can, as i have two fazers, one has the slip on kit and the other has the full monty. I don't really notice any difference in fuel consumption between the kits. It's really how hard you ride them  :eek Hope this helps... Mike will be along shortly to correct me in case i've cocked anything up! :lol

Phoned today regarding my order (9th sept) I have been told that they are hoping to have my order mid next week (Imported), so i SHOULD get them a week this friday 28th oct. (Here's hoping!). I believe that is 49 days (7 weeks) :( . When they arrive i will check out quality and post pics (Someone will have to let me know how to post pics on this site, as i had problems on the old site. If i'm stuck i can post them in the gallery section, because i managed to put up pics of my bikes :lol .Cheers for now,

Nick.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: Ais removal
« on: 15 October 2011, 07:30:40 pm »
Cheers for the info. I unbolted the radiator and there is no way of getting it to move enough, so that you can get at the clamps to remove the ais system. I was only asking because i recently replaced the oil cooler hose and coolant. The only way to remove the ais is draining the coolant , undoing the hoses and either removing or pushing the rad out the way.  :\

I agree with what you are saying regarding stressing the pipes. It was more a question to find out if anyone had done it without draining the coolant and removing the hoses, as i know for a fact if i start removing them, they will crack/split :'( Cheers for your help, Nick.

« on: 12 October 2011, 11:34:21 pm »
To be honest i'm trying to find someone who has tried the diablo corsa 3's or diablo rosso corsa's on their fazer. I really want the stickiest rubber for mileage i can get. I like the profile of the diablo corsa's, so i don't want to change make in case i don't like them. The tyres are for my full monty fazer, which is used purely for sunny weekends hard riding. I really wanted to know if either pirellis were much better than the original corsa's. My other fazer is running maxxis tyres! :rollin I use it for work, so its not getting driven hard. (to be honest the maxxis tyres are ok).
Thanks for all the help, Nick.
Ps.. do you guys have shares with bridgestone.. :D

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Ais removal
« on: 12 October 2011, 06:15:02 pm »
I've just bought an ais removal kit from justy1 and was wondering if its possible to remove the ais system without completely removing the radiator (Don't need to tap threads) Would i be able to unbolt the radiator and push out theway, while leaving the hoses attached. The reason i ask this is because the bike is very high miles '108 000' and i have already replaced one of the hoses due to fatigue and i don't want to remove them unless its necessary.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: chain adjustment interval
« on: 11 October 2011, 11:14:06 pm »

i don't find my fazer easy to set chain tension on. with the axle and torque arm bolts loose i set the adjusters and get it just so but when i tighten either the axle or torque arm bolts it moves. i've tried gradually nipping with no luck, so i usually adjust it a bit loose and then tighten the bolts and it tightens up a little, but this is a bit trial and error until i'm happy with it.

also the yamaha manual stated 45mm free play and d.i.d. (my chain maker) 25-30. 45 seems way too loose to me so i set to (about given the above) 30mm.

any helpful suggestions?

i have found if i leave approx 10 mm extra slack (not far of touching the swingarm rubbers) then tightening it's usually pretty close to 45mm free play. Hope this helps! :)

I'm looking for a new set of rubber for my full monty fazer. I have had a set of diablo corsa's and thought they were really good, but the rear wore out pretty quickly, so i bought a standard diablo rear. I don't rate it as its not as grippy. Has anyone tried the corsa 3 or diablo rosso corsa ? I like the write ups for the diablo rosso, but is it too extreme for the fazer. ie... its more suited to light hypersports bikes and wouldn't work on a 200 kg + fazer

Hi Mike, i put a link to this company on the old foc u site, but i have been waiting 4 weeks on my air box covers and radiator guards, so i would possibly wait until i have received mine to check quality and service before commiting. I have been getting different answers every time i have contacted them. They didnt answer the phone for 3 days! Apparently they got lost with parcel farce smiley: frown I am supposed to be getting them in the next 2 weeks. I will update the minute i have them. Cheers, Nick.
