I know that using it may clear it up, but my work is only 4 miles away, so that ain't going to clear it. i thought driving it back from the previous owners house (30 miles) would have done it. I have ran it in the garage for 15 mins ticking over, so that it gets really hot and taking the filler cap off (hoping it would allow condensation out). Bike has to get a mot, so not able to thrash the nuts off it yet. I was more hoping for some kind of flushing agent that could be used.

I bought a gen 1 the other week. I noticed that there was a little white sludge on the filler cap and top of clutch housing. The bike had only done 5 miles in the last year and was hardly used the year before, so i think he had been going into the garage and firing it up every so often to keep the battery charged. This obviously can cause condensation in the engine. I have driven it only 30 odd miles and it's still there. I changed the oil the other day. Any suggestions on how to clean it out?

I've had a few scorpion cans on various bikes over the years and they all fitted fine. Build quality is quite good and they seem to last fairly well. I would class them somewhere in the middle regarding build quality. Nowhere near as good as akrapovic, but much better than cheap chinese stuff. Hope this helps

Same thing happened to me years ago when i bought a tdm 850 heap of sh*t for £150 . I still have the plug in the garage. I tried to loosen it and it just started turning. I used the normal force to slacken and it felt like it 'let go' |If i get some time i will take a pic and post it. It broke in the exact same place as yours. |It was a new plug that i fitted a few weeks before and was taking out to have a look at the colour (plug chop), as it ran like a pile of poo Sold the bike for £100!

You can't go wrong with silkolene oil. Either comp 4 or super 4. Comp4 and super 4 are classed as semi synthetic. Comp 4 has a higher amount of synthetic oil than super 4. I normally use super 4. I find silkolene oil retains its cleanliness and remains clearer for longer than halfords oil and some other oils i have used. I used fully synthetic hein gericke oil and found gearchanges a bit clunky. I think fazers run better with semi synthetic oils. I have never used car oils in any of my bikes as cars have dry clutches and their are slippier ingredients that could make the clutch slip. Mind you my brother has used car oil in his vfr with no ill effects Good luck

Picked up bike tonight Rode home in hail, then sleet, then rain. Bl**dy baltic Bike drove home fine except for left handers because of the swing arm bearings. Later in week will look into sorting the swing arm bearings. Ps... Has anyone got a Uk headlight? The bike was imported from germany, so it has kph clocks with speedo converter and headlights, which point in the wrong direction! They have been corrected for mot purposes with tape. Would like Uk headlight. Not bothered about clocks. Will post a pic when i get round to it. I think i'll rename my garage (Fazer garage) Got three of them at the moment

Hi Thinking about buying a fazer gen 1 import, unfortunately i don't know what country it has come from apart from the fact it has kph clocks with a speedo converter and the headlights point in the wrong direction. Is there any way to find out what country its from and history? The other thing is it's an '03 with the later galaxy blue / silver engine from the '04. Any help would be great. The other REALLY important thing is if it is restricted in any country.

Just received my bike mag subscription through the door. There is a section with 'top 25 bikes that do it all'. Our fazer 1000 is highly rated (Don't want to tell you the results in case i piss someone off, who hasn't read it yet!) plus there is another story 'practically perfect' where the top bikes compete against each other. I can tell you we do well again! Enjoy!

Already done! I believe the last time you were here it was your birthday and we had a couple of bottles of vino, curry and a dvd. Great night, but sore head in the morning. If you want anymore curry recipes the missus will happily supply them. Chicken bazzigar is lovely!

All advice noted Will have a look at the ht leads, but i don't notice a misfire and when i replaced all the plugs they were all the same. Cheers everybody! Any other ideas greatly appreciated. It is possible that i'm comparing both my fazers- 9500 miles compared to 108'000 miles. I think i will get the valve clearances checked and balance the carbs. Anyway mike when are you coming back to Scotland for a visit and a 'caroline' curry Always welcome. u can even bring some foccers along too

Set compression damping one click back from max (turn screw at top of shock clockwise till it stops then go back one click) adjust the rebound damping by turning the knurled knob at bottom of shock (looking at it from sidestand side of bike) turn the adjuster fully towards the back tyre, then 3 clicks back. The spring is really poor on the fazer, so i would adjust the spring with a c spanner to max or one setting off max. Guarantee it will make a big improvement. If you can afford it get a maxton spring and put the settings to standard and adjust to suit. Hope this helps

Checked the air filter it was okay. A little dirt when i gave it a good tap on the garage floor. One thing i did notice was the foam ring at the bottom of the filter was wet with petrol. the air box was slightly damp, but not full of petrol. There is a tube on the l/h side which had a bit of emulsified oil in it. I checked the end of the tube where it goes into a small black bottle beside the front chain sprocket then out the other side (breather) it was clear.

It's only started recently. Plugs changed less than 1000 miles ago. I'll take a look at the air filter, as it's the only thing i haven't checked. I will also take a look at the carb rubbers in case there's a leak. Next step is check valve clearances and carb balance.
