Back to reality & back to shifts tomorrow after a great rota'd 2 weeks off.so no doubt ill struggle to sleep til about 1am then alarm goes off at 0530 :eek

Not that i wish my life away or anything......but only 6 weeks until my next rota'd 2 weeks off....which is gonna be 16 days off due to swapping a shift to help a colleague go on a cruise.plenty time to visit scotland & do some touring up the north, cant wait :)

I always feel guilty when i go back to work....like what am in the crap for :lol ..after the first day shift all is back to normal & the bonus of starting back on a sunday is no management about, jus me & my oppo, enough time to catch up on the goss without interuption & silly phonecalls.

Hahaha, I know what you two mean about that feeling. I'm on again tonight then 2 nights off and in for another 3  :D

Getting the first one of 3 out the way is the hardest one for me then the other two fly by. However, at the end of it if you asked me about something that's happened in the unit over night I'd be hard pressed to tell you what night it was of the three as they all roll into one big brain mush! haha. Must remember to write everything down! haha.

I work for a company that works for the local (South Coast) Waste water management. Our job is to run there 'product' between their sites. Basically i transport shit from one place to another. It's a big job don't you know, and when it all runs smoothly it's poetry in motion?
I work 2 days on, 2 nights on 4 days (and nights off) We use tankers to transport the raw sludge from small local sewage farms to major processing plants and then the processed sludge, which is now in a cake form is then transported by Roll on off to other sites for further processing, this is usually just storage until it can be taken to agricultural farms for fertilizer.

I tell you what folks, I totally miss shift wprk even tho I thought I wouldnt when I was doing it.
Firstly was monday friday for apprenticeship.  Left that for same in call centres.
Then moved to do constant night shift 4 on 4 off. Just lived nocturnal. The counter strike ganja days. Ah.......

Then from there went into pubs and clubs with a while studying. Didn't turn up for study but rarely missed a shift despite how high I was. Be professional an that.

Back to full time but was 7 days a week and it was heavy physical 80 a week work. That was fine. I still managed to keep my gills workin despite the hourage, sometimes on the job on the way back from long distance drives like wigtown and lochaber (its long distance if you got there at 10 and didn't stop til 9 with no chance of stay over?)
Then back to study and back to nights and weekends in the club. Less high this time.

I thought I would enjoy doing monday friday and apparently getting home early (aye right) and having weekends to myself.
What a load pf pish thats turned out to be.
Ye finish friday amd in no time you're back into the shite. Monday to friday is fuckin killin me now.

My only hope is getting into wholetime firefighter and hope the shifts don't change,  but even rhats not guaranteed thanks to the reform cos nobody knows what the fuck is goin on

There's my life story then.  Pointless as ever. Pfft

Well I should be on 4nights starting yesterday, but I am on a four week course at the moment. Very hard work and I don't like getting up early five days a week! And my night shifts have't been covered. It's not as if the management didn't know I would be elsewhere. The usual piss-up/brewery scenario. Nice not doing weekend nights, though :) .

Blackout tactics: for me it's duct tape and broken down cardboard boxes, the drawback being that you never quite get the tailoring right and light bleeds in, and that the cardboard warps in the sun's heat and needs frequent re-taping / replacing.

But today I had an idea, which is either useless or ingenious... Has anyone tried duct tape and kitchen silver foil?

I bought some blackout blinds for the bedroom, and double thick curtains. It's dark as a cave in there now,  and the neighbours don't think im harbouring a cannabis farm in there with tin foil curtains. :D:D:D:D
Good idea though, it'll certainly be dark in there  with tin foil taped up.
