Fairing loom blanks?
« on: 05 January 2022, 07:40:14 pm »
Hi all
On my 08 FZ1 there are some blanked plugs in the wiring loom under the left had trim cover and one with no female end, does anyone know what they're for? The bike was like that when I got it with no issues as yet, I found some bodge wiring for heated grips which I removed. If nothing else I'd like to satisfy my curiosity
Thanks 👍

*oops just realised should have posted this is fazer corner.. doh!

They look like ABS system to me, is your bike non ABS?

No it has ABS and it still works, although the dash light did come on when I first restarted it after changing the front pads, not sure if that means anything, I took it for a 40min spin with no issues.

I'm more concerned about the male end that goes nowhere. The others seem factory blanked for whatever reason.

It's been a while since I've poke around with FZ1 wiring and it's wasn't a regular occurrence either.  The only other thing I can think of off the top of my head is 'immobilizer' circuit, some counties had them as standard fitment.

Looms are wired to take it, although the unit isn't fitted.

If your that interested, get a wiring diagram out and trace the wiring colours  ;) :)

They are in the fairing loom connector bundle left hand side under the fairing inner cover. Quite possibly an immobiliser but I thought it already came factory wired, I have since discovered the four plug one is for yamaha diagnostic tool. Next time I have an excuse to take the fairing inners out I will take a wider angle pic and maybe put the matter to bed to satisfy my pedantic curiosity.
