Where do you fit in.
« on: 22 November 2012, 04:10:10 pm »
Cut and pasted from an email sent to me recently, i think we all know someoner in the second caqtegoryBeing a good rider is about knowing your skill level and riding at that level, maybe testing your limits every now and then to improve your skills. Its about knowing the limits of the bike your riding and how it rides, being able to control the bike in all weathers and in unexpected situations. Its about having respect for other riders no matter what machine they ride are the skill level they are at. Having respect for other road users and the bikers you are riding with by not putting them in any unnecessary danger, beginning the ride together and finishing the ride together. And maintaining your bike to the best it can be.

Thinking your a good rider is about getting to the destination as fast as possible. Bragging about how amazing you are and thinking that nothing will stop you, when clearly your skills are nothing to brag about. Taking unnecessary risks that put yourself, other riders and car drivers at risk giving bikers a bad name. Riding your '180mph' machine at full speed everywhere you go even when it is not maintained to be fit on the road. And lastly having no respect for the bikers you ride with, treating every journey as though it were the TT.........

Now that's a true representation of how a biker should be, and not the 'shiny biker' you see boasting at the bike cafe's in his creaky leathers and tyres sporting 2" chicken strips! Well found.  8)
Stop polishing it and ride the bloody thing!!

I have a hint of chicken strips, I keep my bike clean and maintained and go from A to B and back in a fashion that suits my skill level and feckin love it.

If a biker wants to pose about without causing distress to other road users that's his choice, after all, it is his bike. There are plenty wannabes up in biker heaven, god rest.

Better to stand and look a fool than speak and prove it !
If it aint broke, I'll fix it till it is !!

As individuals thats what we are. :lol As perceived by non-motorcyclists well thats an entirely different story :'( I like to think I fit into 1st category-but have been known to "admire" my reflection in passing shop windows-(I dont look so bad with a full-face helmet on)! :rollin so suppose Im a bit of a poser?
