Mine had a bit of a problem where it started misfiring badly like it was losing a couple of cylinders. After sitting a few minutes it would be OK, then the problem would start again.
I ended up taking the tank off and draining it, drained all the carbs, took off the filter and cleaned out with brake cleaner, cleaned all the plugs and refitted everything along with new petrol. Problem sorted.
Guessing it was water in the carbs from the odd time I've used this crappy E10 stuff.

General / Fabricators needed!
« on: 13 February 2023, 03:39:59 pm »
Hello all. Hope everyone has had a good Xmas and New Year.
So I have a 1999 FZS600 and want to convert the tail to an R6 tail. As I have limited skills I'm probably going to be best off giving it to someone who can do the fabrication for me.
So, I'm wondering if anyone has any recommendations for a reputable fab shop who could do the work for me?
I'm based in County Durham but wouldn't mind dropping the bike off somewhere else.
Thanks in advance for any pointers.

Not in Teesside, north wales, Scotland, Dorset or north west England I believe, they will have ethanol in their super but only up to 5%

Just watched this clip as a matter of interest and the possibilty of reusing the ethonol to reduce financial  waste.

When it came to siphoning off and then adding fuel boosters I got to wondering if the people who are likely to go to all this effort  were previously accepting of E5 in their lawnmowers and the extra 5% has caused a panic or whether they previously always always bought super unleaded which I presume co trained no ethonol.

Either way  factoring the 10% loss of fuel in with the cost of fuel booster would it not be more economical to siphon or stick with the now super unleaded E5.

[Edited to fix the tiny font problem: GrahamM - Moderator]
Depending where you live use esso super unleaded as its ethanol free or go for any other super as it’s still max 5% and a lot will be much less as it’s not mandated by law to contain any ethanol at all

Still in the kitchen!

Sent from my SM-A415F using Tapatalk

This rings back memories of me stripping down my Cagiva Mito 125 back when i was just a young lad living on my own, I had the rolling frame in my living room and the engine stripped to bits on my kitchen bench, with the cupboards full of parts and the petrol tank etc!!
Awesome times mate haha

It’s more the fact that a bike sitting with e10 in it will start eating the petrol tank, plus the ethanol is eating your alloy carb and brass jets etc as you use the machine. I’ll definitely be using the esso fuel from now on, my local does the 97 and one a few miles away does 99 do not too much of a detour for me

I'll take any fuel at the moment.

Plenty up here in Durham mate!

Bit the bullet and queued for 90mins this morning.
The queue didn't look bad at all, maybe 15 vehicles in front of me, although they were coming from both sides of the road.
But i' m still puzzled as to why it took so long, as there were 2 diesel pumps working and the other 2 pumps had a choice of different fuels?
Had to be done though.

If you need it mate then you’d have to endure it, it’s the panic idiots who have caused all this problem filling up when they’d usually barely use a tennner a week!!!

I just went past the queue at the same garage and it was a bit deceiving, as there were more like 20 to 25 vehicles so that does explain the 90min wait.

I’d be sick waiting that long for fuel, luckily we don’t have that problem!!
Incase anyone is interested, I had an email from esso regarding where they supply ethanol free fuel and they verified it was only Devon, Cornwall, North West England, Scotland, and Teesside that has ethanol in both their Supreme 97 or 99 Ron fuel. The rest is ethanol free.
They also said the majority of their synergy 95 petrol is still actually e5 and that they have no intention of adding ethanol to their 97/ 99 supreme fuel in any of the places that already receive the ethanol free fuel.
I’ve included a screenshot of their reply too.
Seems esso will be my go to station for now then!!!

Pics now added below
Only wanting £20 plus postage (around £8 I believe using most couriers, more if by parcel force)
Thanks

It will just be another excuse to raise the price of the
‘E5 good stuff’ which incidentally is shit compared with the pre ethanol days.

Also note that pump prices are essentially at an all time UK high at £1.30 per litre. The last time pump prices were comparable in 2014, oil then was $120 a barrel. Today it is $75.

E10 foc u.

As I mentioned in the other post, ESSO Supreme 99 has ZERO ethanol in it, but due to legalities the pump has to display an E5 sticker as it actually stands for "up to 5% ethanol".
This is only true for the south of England as in North England, Scotland, Wales, Cornwall and NI it does contain ethanol due to ‘technical supply reasons’ as quoted on their website

Tbf I’ve been using Tesco ultimate as it’s still e5 and 99 Ron and it’s definitely running better with it, don’t know where my local wasp that’s has 99 or I’d try that  😀👍
