as per the title,my fzs 600 gotta go, so as the next bike will be the last before I hang up my helmet, want something comfy, but able to stick in the twisties with low helmet noise and decent wind protection.. Thinking about tracer 700,or Kawasaki versys 650 as brand new bikes, deffo not a Harley or cruiser type bike, nothing naked either...don't mind a decent used bike as long as it can do the above.. 6 foot tall and 13 stone so not a racing snake !! Any ideas welcome guys. Clive

The fazer is back on the road, and going like a fazer should and I'm like a dog with 2 dicks.. Had carbs on and off a few times, trying to sort out flat spot, getting annoyed, turns out it was the fuel pump all along.. Thanks to all for their input,I have learned loads about the fuel system not scared of tackling any job on her now.. Juat gonna ride her everywhere and catch up on lost road craft. What to do next ??? Clive

My fuel pump runs for ages(and noisy)exactly 5 secs every time I turn on ignition, I thought once fuel is in bowls the pump wouldn't need to keep priming
itself every time.
I read on here to test fuel pump you can put a finger over the outlet of the pump and turn on ignition, see if pump stops or carries on (pressure check)..
Did that yesterday and pump keeps running (priming ?) for 5 sceonds with my finger on outlet ..(exactly same length of time as when I turn ignition on..)
Should it stop more or less straight away with my finger over it , or run for a few seconds before stopping ??
Cheers

I put a see through type fuel filter on my fazer, I can see the petrol squirting in but it's only half filled the filter, should it be full up
or is it a lazy fuel pump ??

As said in subject, going to change forks back to standard as they've been modded to take emulators.
Need the top spacer (183mm long) and damper.

Rebuilt carbs, new o rings, mixture screws etc..bench set butterflies and mixture screws.
Put the carbs back on, starts ok with no choke, did carb balance, all good...sounds a lot better, and goes better now, but stuttery at low end.
Took plugs out and 1,2,3 nice colour, but 4 has oil (not petrol) on electrode..
Checked the coils, coil leads and caps, swapped with some spares still the same result, oil on number 4 plug.
Any ideas, carbs again, or am I looking at valve seals ??
Cheers

Just refurbed carbs..new mixture screws in a couple o rings etc, and now resetting the mixture screws to 2 1/2 turns (003 model)..after setting to 2 1/2
turns, carb number 1 has no part of the screw showing in the mouth of the carb but 2,3,and 4(tps side carb)have about 1mm sticking through
Should they all be protruding above the rim of the mouth of each carb, or is it normal that carb 1 screw is flush with the mouth of the carb ?
cheers

budge..the other 3 are all moving so no grief there..

Yet another 2 twats (at different mini roundabouts) who can't see me or my bike and nearly twat me off when I'm indicating and turning right..both women (I'm not a misogynist) therefore I didn't give chase and bollock' em.. My neighbour was behind me in his car on the second incident and came over to my gaff to say even he couldn't believe it !!
