FZS600 Fazer / Front caliper upgrade
« on: 04 October 2019, 10:37:07 am »
A lot of chat (rightly so) about upgrading the rear caliper of the 600 to the blue dot...

What about the fronts? Is it an easy upgrade from the blue dot to the FZS1000 gold dots??

Just bolt off, bolt on??

I don't have any issues with my blue dots, I think they are fine.. but have the chance of golds at a good price... and well...always good to buy stuff...  :rollin :rollin

I got the cheap ones off eaby, had them on for a while now and they have been perfect..

Shouldn't ask why those are so cheap, the real question is why the others are sooo f***g expensive...

FZS600 Fazer / Bike dies when trying to start.....
« on: 21 July 2017, 06:09:36 pm »
Hello again!

well, my little donkey Fazer was a victim of the current Edinburgh bike thefts last week.

thankfully, I managed to get it found and returned to me.

the little scrotes snipped all the ignition wires in order to jump start the bike... and rode it away.

when it was recovered, it could still be jump started and ridden..

I've now had all the ignition wires re-connected (matching the colour tracers in the wires) and a big 30 amp fuse replaced.

however, when you hit the starter button, the bike doesn't start, it doesn't even crank.

you can hear the fuel pump working, the battery is fine...

all that happens is the fuel light and oil light come on.... they are not lit up along with the N light when you turn the bike on.

so I'm a bit lost...... has anyone got any ideas?!?!?!

FZS600 Fazer / Help with fork rebuild
« on: 07 July 2017, 05:23:26 pm »
Hello foccers....

So I've done my fork seals, bushes and rebuilt 1 fork with no issues...

The second one however is doing my head in... the damper bolt isn't sealing properly and is now leaking oil out.

I've got the damper rod held properly, so it's not spinning.

At first I torqued it up to the correct 30 NM spec as per the service manual.

Then I've hit it with the impact driver... both on the bench, and built up (minus the oil) on the bike.

I've taken it apart several times and made sure all the threads on the bolt and rod are clean and have no damage.

Everything I've done so far doesn't stop the oil dripping out... it's not a heavy flow, just drops every minute or so.... but obviously I don't want to rebuild the bike and use it knowing this...

Has anyone had this before?!?

Any other ideas to solve it?

cheers!!

I was there, but on the Pan...

Great turnout for the lad.... thought the police done well to control the ride too..

You are joking! I was about 5 bikes behind you. I kept reading the "hero" reggy and thinking "I know that bike from somewhere". Now I know why.

lol... yeah Hero was out....

were you still behind me when the cyclist overtook us???

thought the guy was going to get a kicking...

« on: 17 March 2017, 10:07:34 pm »
I took 3 months out to ride my 25 year old Pan European around Europe a few years ago.

every day, just riding to different places, finding great roads, chilling out.. it was amazing.

The old bus took me from sea level, through to mountain peaks and everything in between... sunny days and snowing...

It was an awesome trip....

I'm lucky enough to do the same with the USA in 2 weeks... going to be pretty cool too....

FZS600 Fazer / New front caliper...
« on: 24 February 2017, 09:21:56 pm »
I've been looking at a few of these on eBay, and the newer 'silver dot' ones seem to be cheaper than the blue dots...

does anyone know if these will fit a boxeye Fazer OK?

FZS600 Fazer / Re: What have you done to your FZS600 bike today
« on: 17 February 2017, 03:31:03 pm »
new speed sensor today... great to know what speed I'm going again...  :rollin

also changed the flasher relay so they stop giving people fits when I'm turning off a road...

both done in under a half hour, I was quite pleased with that, so having a beer in celebration!  ;)

FZS600 Fazer / Re: Braided Brake Lines
« on: 16 January 2017, 05:51:38 am »
A. I have them, i find slight improvement in braking, old rubber hoses will be well passed there use date now too, so a good mod I think.
B. Yes as above slight better breaking, you can also choose different colours and helps customise the bike a bit.
C. You will get a Foc-U discount from HEL on braided lines, think its 25%

as above...

« on: 27 December 2016, 03:19:41 pm »
if you're sitting on the bike.... the left side outer coil is 1 and the inner is 2...

what is it for the right hand side of the bike?

is the inner coil No 3 and outer No 4???

General / Re: what did you do with your fazer today ?
« on: 29 November 2016, 08:14:58 pm »
cheers.... yeah, I serviced myself, as I normally do.. so I haven't done anything 'different' than I usually do... but obviously buggered something up!  :\

already had the tank back off to check the fuel lines... they looked OK....

spark plugs and leads are next on the list, and maybe recheck the air filter?

the stutter happens more when cold, and more when I'm giving it a bit of gas (to overtake for example) and seems to clear itself by the time it hits 5k revs.

doesn't happen much when the bike is warm, but the doubt is always there in my mind, so can't trust it at the moment!

been trying to find the reason for the annoying stutter its developed sometimes at 4K revs after my recent service...

bike had been running great, I should have left it alone!  :'( :'(

for the cost and the time it takes, I got ones off eBay, stuck them on and forgot about it.

I was in France last year for a few weeks, never had any issues...

I clean and ACF it once a year, the rest of the time it's minging.... I do however make sure it's tip top on the maintenance side.

Good use of the word 'minging' cueball,  :thumbup landed up with many a 'minger' back in the day

it's the sign of a good night out!

depends on the bike..... you could eat your dinner off my ninja, I keep it very clean, everything is spotless and waxed etc... and I only ride that during the summer.

the Fazer is my 'council bike' I ride it all year, in all weathers, and it gets abused - that's what it's there for.
