Even if you don't ride like a tw@t all the time, the recordings can be used against you

General / HTC One A9 or HTC Desire 530« on: 07 June 2016, 12:37:34 pm »
Not a great deal of options to consider but need to order a new company mobile and I have the choice of these two only.
Has anyone tried these mobiles? Who has tried both? I have an HTC M8S as my personal mobile so familiar with the nuances of HTC's. 110

General / Font of all knowledge - Car body repairs - How much?« on: 30 December 2015, 04:16:54 pm »
Some plonker managed to stop on the M3 the other night by using the rear of my car as some additional braking mechanism. The car is now in the body shop whilst I drive round in a very nice hire car (glad the plonker admitted liability).
Trying to work out if my car might be written off or not so trying to guess how much the repairs will be. The car is a Hyundai Santa Fe. The damage from what I can see is: Tailgate Rear bumper and all the mountings etc both rear wheel arch liners possible twist to chassis (car hit us in the rear quarter at an angle) rear quarter panel has some waves in it (ie not straight) Roof where tailgate mounts to appears to have been pulled down a little With a 4 1/2 year old car worth around £13-14K I am guessing it will be a borderline write off. What's your thoughts? 112
General / Caliper rebuilds« on: 26 December 2015, 03:34:05 pm »
Can anyone recommend anywhere that rebuilds brake calipers?
I know that they shouldn't be too hard to do myself but I am checking the options to see if it is worthwhile spending my time doing them myself. 113
General / Triumph Tiger wiring diagram« on: 22 December 2015, 08:44:38 am »
Does anyone have a copy for the 855i model?
I have managed to acquire myself at a seriously low price one of these monsters. It is a non-runner as the alarm wont reset. Simple solution is to remove the alarm as it is a plug in job but I don't have the loop back plug to refit. 115
General / Dashcam makes a fool of the owner« on: 02 December 2015, 08:06:24 am »
What a pillock. He was doing less than 50 (based on the speed the lorry went past) in the middle lane of the motorway
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-northamptonshire-34933345 The truck driver was a pillock too but this "ex special cuntstable" should have his licence revoked too with a bit of luck. 116

What's the best (reasonably priced or free) software for "backing up my DVD collection" on a Windows PC?
Fed up with the shelves full of dust collecting things and plan to put them away in the loft once I have backed them up. 117
General / Paris - 5000 bullets« on: 19 November 2015, 09:20:25 am »
no wonder they are struggling to identify the one person other than the suicide bomber!
On a more serious note though, all school trips to France cancelled until at least Sunday yet other travellers have been given no advise by the Foreign office. Personally, I remember the IRA bombings etc and life goes on as normal. To make changes to what you were doing means the terrorists have done what they intended and are winning. 118

Two boats carrying 140 migrants, including children, have landed at the RAF base at Akrotiri in Cyprus, the Ministry of Defence has said.
"We have not established where they are from yet," a base spokesman said. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-34590635 120

General / The French causing probelms again.« on: 23 July 2015, 05:10:33 pm »
Is it just me that thinks the migrants storming the tunnel should be shot as a deterrent to others?
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-33637756 Perhaps if the French started sending them back to Italy or Belgium and the EU started enforcing things better we wouldn't be having these problems. What with the strikes by MyFerry the other week, the militant (unemployed now) workers again blockading the port this week, how the fec are we meant to go on holiday and boost an otherwise ailing French economy if the French government wont stand up and do something about it. 123

General / What has the budget ever done for us?« on: 08 July 2015, 02:41:44 pm »
This has just been announced:
◾New cars and motorbikes will not need MOTs for the first four years, rather than three and more good news for tax payers, though not so good for some council tenants: ◾The government will also make local authority and housing association tenants in England who earn more than £30,000 - or £40,000 in London - pay up to the market rent, but rents in the social housing sector will be reduced by 1% a year for the next four years. |
