Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: New battery

Maybe invest in one of the cheap solar chargers. I have one and they do work to keep a battery topped up.

Don’t take it personally, these guys are only expressing an opinion. That of course is why we have a forum, so anyone can contribute. From the looks of it I’m sure you’ll get a buyer.

Even better, lift the dust seals around the corner and dry it completely. It will be fine I’m sure.

Also check the drain holes are clear, they could be blocked.

Check your air box, they love nesting in them!

Yep 😂
Honda actually refer to them as ‘winkers’ in some of their old microfiches too 😀😀

Looking good! What compounds and mop heads are you using to achieve those results? Have got a small bench grinder but never had a go at polishing with it. Normally just go by hand with Autosol and finish with Belgom Alu.

You could always smear a bit of filler in there and get a paint touch up bottle mixed up. I’ve taken plastics into a local paint shop and they’ll mix some up with a little brush for about £5. Or find the paint code and order online.

Edit, I see you’ve already got touch up! One other suggestion is a bit of thin aluminium behind the crack to strengthen it and use some more adhesive.

You see that kind of damage on loads of bikes where the winkers got through the fairing, I prefer older methods where they are bolted onto a proper bracket which normally only sacrifices the winker and easy replacement.

Good luck whichever bike you go for. You have some beautiful scenery on the West cost of Norway if a little wet, I love it there 😀

If you’re heading to mainland Europe I would recommend going to the Harz mountains in Germany, superb biking roads.

Can’t help with a photo but one way to stretch the spring is to put washers / coins between each coil. Or the other way I use is locking wire doubled up and pull on using pliers. Either way be careful not to trap your fingers!

I’d be tempted to report it to the police either way, just covers you a bit in case you have difficulty with them.

The bonded seals or Dowty washers are a good alternative  and mean you can re-use them. Copper washers an be annealed and re-used too

14.2V at 2.5k RPM sounds good to me without referring to the manual. If you have the lights on when testing it is normal for the voltage to drop at idle. As long as the voltage picks up when you increase the revs you should be good. Also make sure all connections to the stator and Reg/Rec are nice and clean as high resistance will cause problems.

I was cycling in Devon a few years ago and some cretinous individual thought it would be a good idea to throw a large takeaway cup of fizzy pop out of their car window as they passed me. Think I would have preferred spit.

Back on topic, Carragher shouldn’t have reacted with those actions but the bloke filming him is a complete wanker. Filming whilst driving, if he doesn’t get done it’s an injustice.

I’ve got a front wheel if you’re stuck? Came off an R1 but it’s the same as a Fazer I think. Surplus to requirements. Slight thread hijack!

I’ve had success with Plastic Padding chemical metal repairing an old CX650 tank. Might get you out of a bind.

Nonfango stopped manufacturing for a while but looks like their website is running so might be an option. The old stuff was pretty good in my experience.

Got Givi E21 on mine with the PL racks but also have some old school Krauser boxes in stock which are bigger and might be grafted on at some point if life allows any garage time 😀
