General / NEW BIKE??
« on: 01 June 2012, 08:27:48 pm »
Alright dudes

My Fazer is old and I am quite possibly not the right home for the old girl, so I might be selling or part exing. . . . .  :'(
So which bike to get next??

There are a lot of 0% finance deals on and I am thinking that maybe, I might just treat myself, especially as I can't afford to put down the full amount right now.

Does anyone have any recommendations, advice or opinions??

FZS600 Fazer / Headlight mods
« on: 29 May 2012, 11:13:09 pm »
Alright dudes.

I am thinking of mod'ing my headlights on me 2000 5DM Fazer, to make them, basically work.

I had a look at Angel Eyes, and also some extra fogs I can put on the side.

Is there anything I need to know?? Such as battery boosting, any particular products that will help make the battery perform well or any brand of road legal headlights, that are good, which won't kill the battery . . . .

Advice basically please would do me greatly.

I am gonna be getting the right bulbs though as talked about in Hot Poop . . . ..

General / Bloomin Punctures!!
« on: 30 April 2012, 09:41:42 pm »
Oi Oi,

I have got another puncture on me rear tyre, in a nice central location, so should be easily fixable.

However, I have already had a puncture repaired on that tyre and I was wondering if there is a limit to how many mushroom plugs you can have. Is having two in there safe??

The tyre is only 1000miles old (bought in Feb) so I really don't want to have to get another one . . .

Road Pilot 2's btw.

FZS600 Fazer / Good Screens For a 2000 Fzs 600 Fazer
« on: 25 April 2012, 09:18:38 pm »

A mate of mine has fit a rather awesome screen to his FZ6, and he says it makes a massive difference to him and his pillion.

I am looking for a good screen that'll offer protection from wind/rain, that'll fit a 2000 Fzs 600. (Not a foxeye)

Can people post up any links if they know of any place that'll do screens for this model??

FZS600 Fazer / Battery Dumb-assery!!
« on: 27 March 2012, 10:22:59 pm »

Hey guys. I hope all is well.

I am basically a dumbass when it comes to my bike. I've been a biker for just a few months, and I am curious about why my Fazer doesn't like being turned on any more. (Oooo-err)

Could this be the battery? The lights turn on, and the starter motor makes a noise, it just sometimes doesn't want to start.

Is it any of these?

1) The battery needs charging, and as a new biker, I don't realise I might have to take out the battery and charge it, cos I am unaware that the bike doesn't do it itself.

2) The battery might be as old as the bike (12 years) and I just need a new one.

3) The started motor is f***ed.

I cannot think of anything else it could be.

I have also read the stuff on batteries in hot poop, and also read the manual, and it doesn't really give me an answer.

Would be nice if someone could give me some advice, so I may not have to go to a garage and give them lots of money . . . .

Cheers!

General / Flat tyres and another run of bad luck . . . .
« on: 01 March 2012, 09:20:44 pm »

Just recently had some bike trouble, cracked air intakes and replacements fitted, carbs balanced and cleaned, front yoke straightened (I reckon some twat drove into it, bending it out of shape, as it happened over night) brakes cleaned and sorted after the winter stresses and a nice set of new Michelin Road Pilots. All for £450. Had the new tyres less than a week and today found a nice big screw in the middle of the rear one.

Quite upset. Please say I am not the only one with this run of misfortune??

FZS600 Fazer / My Fazer is feeling very very wrong. HELP!! :-(
« on: 18 January 2012, 08:17:05 pm »
My beautiful Fazer (2000 FZS600 Model) has started to develop a problem. On Monday I noticed that it started to feel quite weak, and breathless, and as soon as I started to put the choke in it would stop at ever single traffic light. It would fire up again ok, but I'd ever have to leave the choke open, or keep the throttle on a tad to stop it stalling.

It has also had a massive power reduction, and feels like I am riding through treacle. The Brakes work fine, the wheels turn freely, and the horrid feeling goes when I am coasting along.

I have also had a HUGE drop in fuel economy. A full tank has only done me 90miles (eeeeck!!)

I think I might have flooded the cylinder, and that has damaged the plug, so that all cylinders aren't firing.

However, does this sound like it could be anything else??

I want to take it to a garage (so if anyone knows any good ones in North London please let me know) but I don't want them to create jobs in order to nick my cash.

Help.

This week, I don't know what it is, but I have come across men in white vans (all different men with different vans) who find it perfectly acceptable sitting at the wheel, smoking massive spliffs.

This reminded me of my mothers Iranian boyfriend, who loved driving about whilst drinking glasses of wine.

Dickheads obviously.

What is the most ridiculous thing you've seen whilst out riding.

General / Good Winter Gear ??
« on: 08 December 2011, 10:25:19 pm »
Oi Oi. First year of biking and as the weather is getting pretty bad, I am in dire need of some good quality jacket and trousers.

However, I want to make sure I get something good, safe and, cos I'm a skinflint, cheap.

My criteria is:-

1) It must be warm

2) It must have good protection in case I fall off.

3) I don't care much about things like millions of pockets, I'd rather cheap, but good quality. Simples is the way forward.

4) Hi vis would be nice, but not essential.

5) I can't afford super, expensive, flashy gear. So be around the £100 mark per item (but the cheaper the better)

Some help would be greatly appreciated. Also, if anyone knows of a decent/friendly/honest bike shop in North London I'd love it.

I think that's it.
Cheers.

Hi,

I just passed my DAS test on 11/11/11 (a nice binary date there) and I have just bought a W reg FZS600.

First bike with an engine, and I love it. It's in pretty mint condition, with 20k on the clock and a service history to back it up.

I wanted a Thundercat originally, but finding a clean example was proving difficult, plus when I sat on one, I felt quite ostentatious (and a bit silly)

Sat on the Fazer, felt wicked, felt better when I was riding it. Feel amazing for buying it.

Few questions:-

What are ideal cruising revs?

What are some good all weather tyres?? (ones that last would be great)

Is there anything about it I need to know, any weird things that if I don't do, will surely kill it (no manual was supplied, but gonna get a Haynes one)
