General / Bike write off advice
« on: 29 August 2013, 09:29:59 pm »
Hi All,
I have managed to throw my bike down the road and into the back of a car. I am ok but dealing with the insurance and repair companies is turning out to be more painful than the accident.
The bike is an 03 600 foxeye and the damage sustained was a smashed front mudguard; scuffed and scraped front wheel, scuffed fork lowers; heavily scraped LH fairing; heavily scrapped LH engine cover, bent LH foot peg. bent radiator.
The bike went to 4th Dimension in Egham Surrey and has been with them for 3 weeks. The have called me today to say it is an uneconomical repair which has surprised me as the bike was rideable after the accident. They have said there is £3K worth of damage.
They have offered me £2k in settlement minus my excess of £300 which will leave me £1700 towards a new bike. As I have never been in this situation I have a few questions
1. Can I ask for my bike back in the condition I gave it to them and will I incur any costs?
2. If they do give me it back can I repair it and put it back on the road?
3. If they have written it off can it go back on the road?
4. Can I ask for parts off the bike [it had a system 3 alarm on it]
5. Is the £2k negotiable [if I think it is worth more than that]
As I said I am a bit green in this area and would like others experiences or advice before I go back to them?
Thanks Badger

General / what engine cleaning products do you use?
« on: 12 May 2013, 01:05:31 pm »
Fazer needs some major fettling which will include the exhaust coming off and getting a rub down and respray. While it is off I want to clean up the front of the engine which is dirty and dull and also has some furring.  So what is the best product with the best degreasing and cleaning result you have used? Cheers badger

General / Any entomologist's on the site??
« on: 23 July 2012, 10:00:41 pm »
Didn't think I would be asking this question on here but here goes, I am being plagued by beetles in the garden and a few are starting to appear in the house now and freaking the wife out a bit. I have trawled the internet and found that the beetles are called Clivina Fosser [not ringo george paul n john]. They are quite agressive and attack one another and have filled my outside sink drain with dead carcasses and I have even seen one beetle pick up a dead one and drop it in the drain !! :eek .
So my question is will they do any damage to the house i.e. bore into wood lay eggs and cause a bunch of problems down the line? or do I just leave them be and let nature take it course?
I'm going to give the council a call tomorrow to see what they advise as well.
many thanks

Not sure where to put this post, admin feel free to move.
I am looking to fit an extra hard drive into my home PC, running vista, and i would like the extra drive to act as extra storage for photos videos, music etc. I have had a look on the internet and picked up some advice but further advice on pitfalls what to look out for etc would be greatly appreciated.
thanks badger

« on: 27 March 2012, 06:17:11 pm »
Hello again, I have finally got around to registering on the new website. I still have my fazer 600 and will be checking out the rideout section to hopefully meet up with some old faces and meet some new ones too.
I am in Nottingham and if anyone is interested in a run out anytime let me know ( i have a couple of decent local routes).
Cheers
Badger
