For Sale & Wanted / FZ1 Fazer ABS Black 2012 For Sale
« on: 19 June 2021, 03:04:03 pm »
This is a stunning looking bike. This bike has a belly pan, heated grips, touring screen (OEM screen is available), and an Yamahas Akrapovic factory titanium end exhaust with removable baffle 😁 (OEM exhaust is also available). Datatool S4 alarm Cat 1 factory fitted. Oxford heated grips, well maintained, used but not abused. 60,000 miles, recent new fork seals fitted 2019, MOT till March 2022.
Fantastic looking bike overall for very little.

£3200 any reasonable offer considered. Delivery can be arranged at extra cost.

Apologies if I am position this in the wrong place.

I'm not a law man so don't know the laws on lids but when is a helmet not a helmet? Or when does a helmet become a hat?

When it's a washing up bowl!

When I was in Taiwan I took one of the families bikes out for a spin and the lids were one size (XXL) fits all and I'm not kidding a washing up bowl was more substantial.

« on: 24 January 2014, 07:15:16 pm »
I've had BT020, 021, 022 and 023. I've also had PR2's and PR3's. Now I've got Metzeler Z8's.

All of these were chosen for longevity and wet-weather grip. THAT's what they're good at! According to your post, you're not interested in either, so these are not the tyres for you. Look at Michelin Pilot Powers or Pirelli Diabli Rosso, etc, etc.

Yep! Get s my vote. I would go with what Mad Dog suggests. :)  Dry grip, there the chappy's.

Good luck with the recovery! You may be lucky and once it's healed you may find you gain mobility quicker, best not to rush it as it often slows progress/recovery.

Slow steady!

Could be worse, could be summer!

6 to 8 weeks for fracture to fix and the same to rehab, post cast remove, this can be shortened by following Dr guidance and abstaining from alcohol and smoking, but truth it's just time.

Car is best option in my opinion, as you won't get insurance on bike or the car, but you won't have to learn to ride a small wheeled scooter in slippery conditions, the probability of accident on a bike/scooter while your learning to ride it one handles is greater then a car that you know, (200bhp or 2000 it has a volume control) You pay your money and take your chance.

Car and don't get stopped or have an accident (cause one). It may cost more but you will live to fight another day and recoup your losses over time.

Have you got projectors fitted or just a linked H1and H4 hid .ive just got the H1 hid and without projectors just throws the light all over the place and is not really any better

I'm glad you mentioned the projector lamps as I have them on my R6 and was going to fit a HID unit, however, I've been made aware of this issue.
I have hi powered incandescent bulbs 100w / 60w these get me seem, but difficult to see. If you get the gist?

Any solutions?

Any change of bike sees differences, however I few weeks and a skills update and you'll be riding the weeps off it.

Personally I couldn't stand my FZ1S as I bought it just because the price was right, however Yamaha did a full referb of the suspension under warranty and 20000 miles later it's the best do everything bike I could have, even-though I keep think I want to change it, I get to that point and change my mind.

Personally it's not the best looking bike, it's not the fastest, nor the best handling. Bur buy goodness in the right hands there is very few that can touch it let alone see it, really!

Never under estimate a fazer in the right hands. You will grow to love it :)

I have Yamaha fitted ones and to be honest there not as good as my Honda xx ones, as previously posted I would def go for oxford ones.

The Yamaha ones were stupidly expensive and Proformance is pants compared to the Oxford ones.

I know there is a controversy as what's best. I have no clue, but guess if it's safe for planes it's safe for my bike. After all I'm often trying to fly :)

It dose seam to wash off as pointed out in previous post, I tend to leave it till salt on the roads has gone and then clean the bike and prep it for spring. Mind you I only do 14000 miles a year so not a huge amount compared to despatch riders.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: Fuel Stabilizer Recommendations?
« on: 02 December 2013, 11:23:17 pm »
It's true you may never have an issue with water or microbial. However this problem is often started with poor fuel husbandry and promoted with an environment that helps growth of microbes. In the UK we have high quality fuel for now. Till we add more bio fuel! ie ethanol

Once you have an issue, it can be a real issue to clear with out cleaning, dismantling and flushing, which in my mind is not cost effective, as it could be your local supplier that has the problem, that is re contaminating you.

Worst case just treat if you get a problem.

« on: 26 November 2013, 09:14:25 pm »
With the more common usage of biofuels in petrol I wonder if any of it's microbes similar to the diesel bug causing the problem, that lives at the water/fuel interface absorbing nutrients from the fuel and oxygen from the water, makes a right mess of fuel filters in many boats.

Although it's called 'diesel bug' all Fossil fuels suffer. Adding bio fuels make it worse and reduce the 'BTU' of the fuel.

There are many other fuel additives made by endless company's. None do what 'Aquasolve' dose, when fuel gets cold and I mean clold, the water drops out of phase ( basically separates). Fuelset is another product, the best it can do is a micro emulation which separate when cold, so dosnt fully work and still allows the slimy growth you see in picture.
If not treated it will only re populate when next opportunity arrives.

Grate picture of microbial growth in petrol.

Another thing Aquasolve is a biocide with biostatic property's so desolves the slime and returning it to fuel.

Thank you for the guidance, I have yet to get a horn! However I have got a HID kit to fit and I will fit a horn at the same time.
The relay installation is a must due to load demand for horn and lights.

If any of you think of anything else about loud horns, feel free to let me know.

The fitting diagrams are grate.

Before any whit! I'm not referring to male impotence. :rolleyes
Having read many of the other post, I'm dreading to see the response that I may get from posting this.

I'm looking for a replacement horn for an FZ1 second-generation. I'm after the loudest humanly possible second to pay fog horn! :lol

Does anybody have any suggestions, guidance or links that may be of use?

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: Fuel Stabilizer Recommendations?
« on: 22 November 2013, 02:57:44 pm »
Some good points that have been made.

US fuel tends to suffer slightly worse than UK due to storage techniques and climate.

Petrol suffers less than diesel from degradation through storage, however due to new legislation being brought in which will increase the ethanol levels within fuel, this will increase the fuels hygroscopic properties causing an increase of water and microbial growth. This legislation will come in power 2015. :eek

Condensation as mentioned previously in fuel is an issue when storing, however I'll be surprised if it is significant enough to affect performance Just over the winter months. The biggest problem with condensation and water will be corrosion within the fuel system however this should be fairly minor if at all.

Finally as for products, the only one I would recommend would be 'aquasolve'  it's a very very new product. It's perfectly designed for what you require.

I suggest you look at the website and information that is on there. ;)

However as suggested, fill it up to the top until spring.

In my opinion, the only screen that made a noticeable improvement is the Givi. I don't think it's the best looking but it's best single improvement made to the Fazer 1000 Gen2

Motorcycling is not likely caused or make is worse by the frequency and strength that causes are not found on motorcycles (in general), however there are a few that are more agricultural than others. I don't want to cause an offence so I won't mention them.

The throttle rest works well to prevent over gripping and causing pain in hand, this is often referred to as 'white knuckle riding'. Softening your grip when riding or good maintenance of the cables can help the symptoms, I got my rest at Buster's did one that was much better quality and ergonomic.

White finger is nerve damage and is most likely to be from kango's, thumpers and such like and not skill saws, mind you it depends what you use as a blade and how you use it?
