No leather kit. Or I'd go.
Silly question maybe, but can you do one without a rideable bike? I am sure extra training will help me, but orders from above (i.e. Mum) mean that I have had to cancel the insurance on the ZX4 - and am not allowed to renew it until after Uni is over: Over a year and a hafl off bikes!! :'( :'(Surely there are hire bikes available, sounds like you can hire bikes for track days so why not bikesafe
Strictly run what you brung for bikesafe I was told, for one you are taken on the road with an IAMS instructor and would imagine the slow speed control would be tricky on a track bike.
Unless of course, someone would be willing to lend you their bike. :rollin
I hadn't even thought about the need for leathers :( Looks like I may have to wait until finances are looking a bit better

:lol Good one!
I reserve the right to backtrack and make excuses etc etc blah blah :D
Are leathers a requirement then. It's not a track day2x 20 minute track sessions!
since it's meant to be primarily about safer riding skills on the roads (or so i thought)and not racing surely having to have 1peice leathers eliminates a good number of the riders who probably need it most :\ .Are leathers a requirement then. sounds like a plan :)It does and one I'd be up for..........subject to clothing requirements :'(
They hold different types of road skills days, holding this one at a track makes perfect sense as you can learn a lot more about what you and the bike are capable of on the track safer than on roads.since it's meant to be primarily about safer riding skills on the roads (or so i thought)and not racing surely having to have 1peice leathers eliminates a good number of the riders who probably need it most :\ .Are leathers a requirement then. Having received an email it appears you can hire leathers for £45 for the day.
If you want to do their road skills training without the track sessions then pick a suitable training day!
For those of you who expressed an interest some provisional dates have been set. It would be good if we could get a foccer contingent to enrole on the same date. Thoughts anyone ?

RIDE SKILLS AT BRANDS HATCH!
Some of you have been enquiring about dates for 2014 Ride Skills days at Brands Hatch with the Fire Bike Team, the latest news is that will are looking at holding events in the following months March, April, May, June, July, and August / September. I am still waiting for set dates and will advise you of these as soon as I have them! If your name is on the waiting list you will recieve an e-mail regarding first refusal on the initial dates especially if you were due to attend the cancelled one last year. Jim
I'm on the list, woop woop! For what date? I'm going to try and get a slot in may when the weather should be better.
As others said- no date, just on the list!I'm on the list, woop woop! For what date? I'm going to try and get a slot in may when the weather should be better.
On Brands Hatch Calendar as 25th MarchAs others said- no date, just on the list!I'm on the list, woop woop! For what date? I'm going to try and get a slot in may when the weather should be better.
I believe the march date has been firstly opened to those that had the last one cancelled grandma.Hope it comes off as sometimes they can be a bit tricky weatherwise, as Brands is a natural frost pocket if there is snow about I live about 10 mins away, weather so fickle, they have run brilliant Jan/Feb days lol
Yeah, although I ride all weather's I'd much prefer to do this on a warmer dry day!I agree, it is a safety thing too, as my son came off a few years back on a Feb day (one of many) they had delayed start waiting for snow to melt, but of course track was still very cold and a few forgot to wait until tyres warmed up and came off as a result, while waiting for these to be picked up, my son forgot his tyres were losing heat and became another victim. Came off at Graham Hill so had a soft landing on grass, so no real harm done!
would this help people who cant go round corners??? :lol
I'm still trying to convince Exup, I think he's scared of looking like a pussy on the track!
I'm still trying to convince Exup, I think he's scared of looking like a pussy on the track!:lol That should do it.
if theres anyone that can make exup look good on the track its me :lol come on exupIf you enjoyed yesterday with those lovely bends, you will enjoy track sessions with KFB, as only their peeps on the track during their sessions, so no racers cutting you up, cones to mark turn in points, three slow sighting laps with no overtaking, and a MSV instructor to help if you ask. Very relaxed and friendly day 8)
Is there still room...I'd be up for this if so?
Hi Mark. There are no longer leathers available for Hire from MSV so let me know if you are still interested. JimSo looks like if you want to go out on the track you need to find your own one piece, or two piece that zips all the way round :(
Don't know if you have date confirmed yet, but saw Jim last week and as far as I am aware so far they are March 25th. May 6th both Tuesdays and June 30th a Monday. If I hear any different as so far only March 25th on MSV website, will let you know. 8)We've already dismissed the march date, think we're all looking at May!

Ok, for those that don't check emails regularly I've had one from Jim today offering us either may 6th or June 30th, what's the general consensus- I'm easy for either, and life in general!
June one is 2 days after my birthday!

"You're easy" - Laughed pretty hard at that one!! :lol :lol
Hmm, is it worth the challenge of getting my bike built for the 30th? ;)
I guess so... but relationships with German estates, tarmac and grass verges don't count as modding (amongst many other items)
Just curious- what are peeps previous trackday experience and what group have you put yourself down for?
Me-
Silverstone
Rockingham
Bedford autodrome
Intermediate group.
Things are gonna get expensive for you after June then because you're going to want to do some full track days lolVery addictive! :thumbup
Just curious- what are peeps previous trackday experience and what group have you put yourself down for?All Firebike peeps go in one dedicated group, whatever their experience on track, to keep novices safe from MSV guys, as it is a combined day. go as fast or as slow as you like in complete safety, it is up to you.
Me-
Silverstone
Rockingham
Bedford autodrome
Intermediate group.
perhaps all on the start line with pole position reserved for the fastest of the day :b
In that case then Dazza, I reckon it will be Grandma on pole, Punkstig, Dazza on the front row, in that order. I know my place, I'll head straight for the back row!Don't action cams have timer facility?
PS, they don't allow timing on a track day like this, saying that, would they notice the sundial for my timed lap??? :lol
Baffle isn't sufficient for me, need to swap back to standard can! Lol
#can'twaittoseetigerprintroundBrandsHatch
Bagsy last place! :o
