FZS600 Fazer / Re: 2001 FZS600 - service intervals?
« on: 07 May 2016, 06:27:20 pm »
im always twiddling with the bike so gets most things checked regular  but as regard major service etc i change oil+filter every 3000 miles
all depends on your riding if your a thrasher or a cruiser ?? the harder you ride the faster things wear out  :) :)

FZS600 Fazer / Re: Sprocket gearing
« on: 03 May 2016, 07:37:07 am »
I have -1 front 14 tooth front. That gives me little more torque and more faster acceleration, but makes my revs a little higher than standard and top speed little lower. About 300 revs more in 6th and 500 revs more in 2nd. Acoording to gearing commander http://www.gearingcommander.com/ that also makes my top speed lower 133mph compared to 143mph standard.

I really do over 100 so not bothered at all  :lol

That improves the acceleration in foots per second from 22 to 25 ft/s2 according to:

http://motorcycleperformanceanalyzer.com/yamaha/fzs-600-fazer-1998/

14 tooth
9100 rpm
59mph
500 lbf
25 ft/s2

Standard:
9100 rpm
62mph
460 lbf
22 ft/s2

If you change ratio 1 tooth change in front equals 3 tooth change rear. Means -1 front = +3 rear. You can do both obviusly if you want bigger impact.

Moto gymkhana guys go say for smaller front and really huge rear sprocket. That gaves them huge acceleration and more torque. Not very suitable for road riding.

I am thinking about doing gymkhana at some point and have the 51 rear sprocket ready. I reckon because its not very drastical change I'll be able to ride on the road with it too  :)

Finally you can go the other way to have bigger front and smaller rear. This will make your ride more relaxed with less revs on the motorway.

If you want relaxed ride I suggest the Fazer 600 is not for you  :lol

The whole point of small capacity IL4 engine is to go in high revs and scream. It is detuned supersport engine.

You need relaxed ride get low revs twin engine. Like Honda Dullville  :rollin

Or really big liter bike one like FZS 1000. Or Bandit 1250. These are relaxed motoway tools if you want them to be.

yeah the fazer is not a motorway ride !  its a fun bike  and needs some throtle to be enjoyed to the max    but how come yours only revs to 9100 ???   get up to the berries  :lol :lol :lol

sort the kink in the brake hose firstly
then if still no joy put a length of pipe on each nipple and the other end into a bottle with old fluid in
and pump the pedal you`ll see the air come out  the fluid will bubble  :) :)

i`ve had my boxeye for  over 4 years now   had cbr , gsxr ,zx6r ,bandit6, and a zzr600 in past  (i have short legs)  never had a cat  but found that even as standard the fazer is alot better than a bandit speed and handling,  i did the piggy back gen 1 rear shock mod and thicker oil and spacers in front legs a couple years ago which made a big difference, then last year r6 rear + some different front springs (cheers jeff) kebab )) spent time tweeking and fidling to get a happy set up  now handles great gearing is down 1 on front up 1 on rear  goes like a rocket pulls out of corners like a misile and is well planted  it shows alot of bigger stuff up !  went to germany last year and on autobounds saw 140+ and still had some left
but im not interested in top end 0-ton is more fun and to be honest spend more time 60-120mph  where its fun and carving corners is just a delight and at end of day when all mates backs and wrists are aching etc "i`m just chilled"  :) :) :)
oh n i got £1500 in her not  £7k + like the plastic rocket crew

« on: 01 July 2015, 07:39:20 am »
Hi Paul cheers for the reply I've had some advice since I posted all I want is a little less revs when cruising on the motorway seems that one tooth bigger at the front is what I need not fussed about the slight loss of acceleration thanks again

up 1 on front will bring revs down slightly  will also slow acceleration a little

bear this in mind :? if your doing 90% motorway miles fine
but if your doing a lot of traffic work you`ll be jumping up n down that gear lever like a pogo stick
speed linit is 70mph   so you get away with 80mph on a motorway  not 100mph +
so why not just ease off the throttle abit :lol

ferodo platinum  are good value and have good feel
once bedded in they bight like a crockadile

stay away from race pads you`ll never get them hot enuff to work properly

if your a steady eddy most options will be ok but stay away from cheap crap  (that`s what they are!)
