Hi all,

Pick up my 2005 FZS1000 tomorrow and once its home I'll be doing oil/filter changes and having a look at the EXUP.

But after I'll be looking to start adding bits to it to improve handling, touring, comfort, tech etc. Looking to buy and bits you might have spare to suit or mods that you no longer want or were thinking of getting rid off. Mine appears to be fairly standard so try me with anything and I might have it off you for the right price. Givi rack/sides would be nice, as well as a not too loud slip on as I'll be doing ivans at some point. Shock and fork upgrades would also be good as well as a decent set of 758 Renthal bars. Let me know what you have!

Hi all, picking up my new to me 05 FZS1000 on Thursday and have been lurking on the forum for a few months trying to get as much info as possible. I can already tell there’s loads of knowledgeable people here and hopefully I won’t end up having to ask too many questions. Can’t wait to start riding and tinkering with the bike, first things first, fresh oil and filter and tackle the EXUP!!

Still on my hunt for a black engine/frame combo gen 1. Do not enjoy being bikeless at the moment lol should have held onto the VFR till I had a new one!!!

You still looking? May need to trade mine in as my road bike needs are changing - would be very much at the top end / a bit over your 2,000 budget. Not including the top box.

Cheers

Markie.

Thanks Markie, any more info on it? Feel free to PM if you prefer.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: Advice on buying this Fazer?
« on: 14 January 2017, 10:17:49 am »
My first gen one was £1500 Four years ago.....2001, high miles, bit of a dodgy exup, soggy suspension, scabby silver paint, needed tyres, generally suffered a hard life, but I bought it because it was all I could budget too. I ended up wishing I'd spent more on the bike. I could have got mine up to scratch, ivanising, race can, suspension upgrade etc etc but I would have spent a lot if money and it would still be a ropey looking un. This time I spent just 500 quid more ( it was advertised on here for 2250 but the bloke took an offer) and got 2004 bike with reasonable miles, the later black frame and motor, suspension upgraded front and back, nearly new tyres, titanium can and re jetted etc etc...honestly mate, stretch your budget and get a bike that's been looked after and probably enthusiast owned with sensible mods. They are such a good bit of kit you won't want to sell it, so get the best you can.
You make a great point, I've rushed into a lot of "good deals" before and got stung and having slept on it I'm taking your advice. I messaged the guy asking for details of damage, bad points etc, and the reg number and simply got a reply back with the reg number so something isn't right!

I do have my eye on one from the forum here which is out of budget but almost the perfect bike so will keep saving for more funds I think.

I had a quick look at it , even for 1750 it looked like it's had a hard life  :'(
I did also notice that the 3000 miler hadn't sold yet for 5 grand , I wonder why ?

Wow, just seen this myself. Looks ideal for my budget and I'm not far from London in North Essex.

Do you think its one to avoid going by your comment on it? Price seems a bit too good to be true I thought for a 2005 model. Would be interested to see what people think of that as otherwise colour me interested!

If you look in the 1000/fz1 section there a guide to first time owners and potential buyers that will cover pretty much what you need to know

Thanks Graham! Found that yesterday actually and just having a good read through it this morning :)

Thanks Grayo, did see that! Is it yours? I was a little put off by it being a cat D but then I guess that's reflected in the price.

Hi all,

Been on the lookout for a Fazer 1000 for a while now and there are some amazing examples on this site. I've been lurking for the last couple of months and after having just sold my VFR I'm now on the lookout for a good example.

Previous bikes have been a GS500, 03 ZX6R and the now sold VFR750. Looking for a change to a sporty upright with plenty of grunt and the Fazer seems to fit the bill perfectly. Hopefully I'll be joining the fold properly in the next few weeks and looking forward to getting involved and providing the much needed pics!

Appreciate any advice you might have while I'm on the hunt, seems there's loads of good bikes out there and just a case of finding the right one for me.

For Sale & Wanted / WANTED: FZS1000 Fazer 1000
« on: 29 November 2016, 02:29:51 pm »
Hi all,

Have been lurking around for the past couple of months after deciding to swap my VFR for a Fazer and with the VFR selling this week I'm finally in a position to jump ship.

I'm considering any examples of FZS1000 though the more sorted mod wise the better as I'll only likely be looking to do most of them at some point anyway. Lower mileage also better but again will consider most things. I did have a persuasion towards black frame/black engine models but once again for the right bike at the right price I'd consider other.

I had been in contact with a couple of members with some lovely examples but unfortunately the VFR sale left me slightly under budget so realistically I'm looking to spend as little as possible and certainly under £2000 at the moment, so if you have any Christmas bargains to go again let me know!

Thanks in advance, hopefully I'll be joining the fold soon!

Welcome to the forum, had a VFR750 myself years ago, excellent bike but the Fazer 1000 is better.
Keep your eye on the For Sale  section on here, good ones come along and I think there is one up for sale now.
The above link should take you to a thread with lots of info about them.

Cheers Slappy, thats a great link! And thanks for the welcome  :)

Hi all,

I'm currently riding a 96 VFR750 but looking to swap over to a FZS1000 Gen 1 in the next few months when the right bike comes along. I've had my eye on one for ages and as I can't afford the KTM SMT I really want, I figure the Fazer will tide me over till funds allow a big step up! I dare say from looking over the forum though there's a good chance I will fall in love and keep it for a long time to come instead though :)

Looking forward to getting stuck in and hopefully I'll have new bike pics to post before long!
