Rebooted phone and PC.
Was just about to uninstall andriod syc manager in case it was mucking up kies, but opened it up one more time.
It opened and connected to the phone.
I ran a text backup.
It's created a syncdroid folder in my documents, which contains a folder called backup with two notepad docs called adb_usb and version.
Inside backup is another folder, I open that and there is a folder called Sms and an XML document (which I can't open - it just opens IE explorer and shows nothing), inside the Sms folder is another XML doc called backupinfo. The whole lot comes to 236kbyte
So is that it? Has it worked.
And I take it the only way to see the texts is on my phone. So if the phones loses the texts, or I lose the phone or it gets focced I just reverse the process?
Sorry this is all new to me.
I take it - if that is indeed a success, I should close the USB Bebug option on my phone. I'd just leave the developer options available unless I really should close that too. And then just backup every month or as required.
Does that all sound about right.
Many thanks.
Oh and Happy New Year to everybody, best for 2016 etc.
