How far people my light goes on at 90-105miles how much is left? I thought the gen1 guage was inaccurate but the gen2 is just as bad if not worse.

Mine comes on about 95 miles in but supposedly you can squeeze 130 out of them, i wouldnt mind strapping on a fuel can & trying it out one day

Yeah i'm Worried about my trip away fuel stations etc. Ive got a givi 2.5 litre fuel can but wondering what sort of max distance people have had.

Dont think ive ever seen anyone say they get any more than 150 miles.....i reckon you'll be ok, not sure how often tou stop but personally im about every 50 miles for a stretch & usually just top up when i stop....even up north & skye i didnt come close to running out.

It might some obvious but how much fuel can you put in when the light comes on? How big is the tank? The difference is how much fuel you have left.

On my gen 1, the light comes on around 160 miles. If I fill it immedeatily, it takes 15 litres. It is a 21 litre tank so there are 6 litres still in it, which is good for at least 60 miles.

Was wondering really how far people have gone on a fz1 tank. its a 18litre fuel tank but my MPG is up and down.

I've just come home from Germany and on 13ltrs I was was getting between 110 to 130 miles but that was caining it, consumption was up and down, but found when tank was full to the funnel on side stand I could get another 2 litres plus in but had to drip feed it in, it just kept taking fuel.
It's like there's a bubble, air pocket in the top of the tank.
It's like you say 18 litre tank where's the other 5 litres, I'm sure there's three for reserve still two missing????

Full to the funnel - on side stand?
You have to stand the bike upright to fill the tank.

Not on mine, if I stand it up I have to shake it side to side front to back. Wierd but how it is. Like I said must be an air pocket.

Its the silly internal baffle thi gy in the tank....sure i heard of a mod some way back that allowed quicker fuelling......takes about 30 seconds to almost fill the tank & then 5 foccin minutes of stop start trickling it in with the pump action to get the last bit in.....ridiculous

Blimey, I thought my gen1 and bandit 12 were bad at 160 & 140 before the fuel light comes on.

If on a run on my own (quick A roads), I'm happy with the 200 miles + (Usually 240 ish) I'm getting before the light comes on. (Example - Telford to Dunkeswell (Devon). Mainly motorway at 80mph +. After 180 miles put £16 in!)
Out with the wife on her VT750 Shadow and it'll go to around 280 + easily.
This is a Gen 1 Thou.
I do brim the tank, on the centre stand, at each fill up though.

my gen 2 , power commander, a decent map in , motorways average 90 mph does 125 miles to fuel light and did 30 miles to next fuel stop.

Thrash it and the fuel light can come on far too sodding quick,,

but,, recently I have calmed down quite a lot -I have visions of someone catching my shenanigans on a dashcam and me getting into bother with the old bill- I recently did 160 miles at a reasonable, but not silly pace before the light came on.

I also know that ridden carefully 38miles is possible with flashing fuel. I was heading south a few years back and the it came on about 40 miles from the border with Luxembourg. Knowing the fuel is lot cheaper than Belguim [and not being arsed to want to stop to put 5euro in to stop again once in L), I chucked it behind a truck and did 90kmh all the way to the border.

Perhaps 200 miles might be possible with a GEN2 but the small tank is the limiting issue.

We need someone who has actually run out a tank on one but being sensible types on here it doesnt look like there is anybody......you should be the pioneer i reckon.

I might give it a try (take a petrol can with me). Mine is not bog standard; pc5, airbox, smog-off, decat.

I only just managed to get 185 mile out of me gen1 and started coughing. Maybe I'm just too happy on the throttle or something

I think the important thing for me to know is that ill pretty much always get 130 miles and that's what i tend to work on......if i get cought out one day and manage more then happy days but most places in the UK if i hae the light come on at say 100 miles then im almost guaranteed to find a station within the 30 miles unless i was lost or turned into a haggis & was going round and round the same hill

Besides...whats the point in having a quick release fuel cap if you cant use it as much as possible

I love mine....makes filling up a positive joy plu nobody has bothered stealing my fuel as they know gen 2's hold so little

Very true Noggy quick release fuel cap= quick use of the fuel. I'm gonna get a custom map done for my bike I think as I haven't had one done since changing a few things also find out what bhp she is pushing our any excuse tbh.
