Absolutely gorgeous. I'd be happy to keep the wheels clean cos I think the white contrasts brilliantly with the black/orange.
Another stunning example anyway  8)

I always use Paint4u. Always matched whether car or bike and a decent service as well.
I'm waiting for an order ATM to match my SV lowers and I've no doubt it will

Good luck

I did mine with a rattle can in a metallic silver
Quick wipe down with petrol to get all the oily deposits off and a rinse with soapy warm water
Let it dry and a rough up with 600 grit wet and dry.
Bog standard grey primer and then the silver over the top
I did lacquer it in the petrol proof stuff but wish I hadnt as gonna be an ares to touch up if I need to

The front chain guide can be taken out with a bit of wriggling if you remove the cams but the actual rear tensioner guide is at least a top end off/engine out/split job because of where its bolted at the bottom of the tensioner blade .... stunning design ..  ;)

Thought I'd jump in here as Ive just replaced my cam chain using a splitter/riveter like the one linked above.

It took me about 6 hours from taking the tank off to restarting the engine. The DID chain came pre split with a soft link rivet and the installation was painless. I did have help from my younger son, but only to help keep the new chain taut as it was fed down the front of the engine as I turned the engine over and pulled the old chain out the rear. It only took about 5 mins to actually do the rivetting.

I did consider a total engine split but decided against it purely cos of the amount of hassle involved.
I measured the new chain length prior to fitting and it turned out to be 3mm shorter than the old one. It may not sound a hell of a lot but the difference was instantly noticable as I started the bike. It purred rather than rattled and I counted the clicks on the CCT as it tightened the chain so I know theres a good few left.

I'd happily use a split chain again with a soft link

You have my sympathy Kenny as I tried to do my head races and 2 hours later put it all back together as it was. Like you I couldnt get any purchase on the outers that sit in the frame.
Only found this out after Id put the new lower bearing on a new botton yoke of course ....  :\
I'll probably give it another go over the winter sometime
GL with yours anyway   :)

FZS600 Fazer / Re: Busted Fazer - what are my options?
« on: 12 August 2012, 10:04:05 am »
Long story short, 2 of the exhaust studs have snapped. A kind mechanic from York Suzuki rode to my place to take a look and says that because of the position of the studs (i.e behind the frame) it would be costly to fix as the engine will have to be removed
Sounds like an engine out to me or head off to me ....

that looks salvageable IMO.
What you've described as the fork seals are the dust seals that sit above the fork seals and are an easy fix.
My engine looked worse than that when I bought it and now looks great. Plain black gloss and its holding up to the temperature and the weather. Simple case of getting the crap and flaking paint off and it'll look brill afterwards.
Your fork stansions do look a lost cause tho, e-bay is gonna be your friend Im afraid. I've got later forks on mine with the preload adjusters on the tops, again a result of pitted chrome.
Your exhaust studs depend of how involved you want to make it. I'd just take the head off and get it to an engineering firm. Even if you take the engine out you're still gonna have the strip it anyway so why do all the extra hassle of engine removal. Just my 2p but GL whichever you go

Now that looks like a very good result  :thumbup  Particularly the nice rounded edge where it meets the lamps. Top work matey

I assume you've already set the lamps up to summat like they should be in regards to beam alignment or is there enough room to do it with the fairing on ?

Well, after the lacquer lifting on the original paint job I decided I CBA doing such a complicated job again, so went for plain Aegean Blue from Peugeot and I gotta say I'm loving it

I needed to change the cam chain as well as it wouldnt stop rattling no matter what I did but now its beautifully quiet. Happy Days  :D
I even managed to wangle the hugger on that was destined for the wife's bike ......

Cheers

I'll be keeping an eye on this.

Particularly the projector headlamp MOD as Im thinking about the same thing only putting them in the original holes and mocking up some sort of blanking plate behind them to make it all pretty

Anyway a good start and I hope you get it sorted and pretty :)

The wife owns a CBF600 and I gotta say its a peach of a bike.
It maybe a bit boring/bland to ride but its got probably the best gearbox Ive ever had the pleasure to use. Its soooooo smooth.
It does everything you would expect from a Honda middleweight tourer

Introduction / 'Lo all
« on: 08 June 2012, 11:45:43 pm »
Hi guys and gals I thought I'd better introduce myself as I've been a lurker for a long time
Names Ian and I'm from Liverpool. I've been round bikes all my life and currently have a 250 Superdream (which Im selling) and a 05 plate 650 bandit for the weekday commuting and touring
I've also got a 99 plate 600 I bought from a mate a few months and I've been turning it into a cheap track bike. Nothing major you'll understand as it will be running in full road trim on the track.
I payed 600 notes for it and after a respray and a fair bit of tarting up I'm eventually happy with it. It's mechanically sound and hopefully later in the year I'll be thrashing it round atrack near you  :evil
Cheers and stay safe
Ian
