Engine mounting bolts?
« on: 27 March 2015, 04:31:16 pm »
Just decided to wash my bike while weather ok and while cleaning behind the exhaust down pipes noticed the bottom bolt on the support looks odd? Like something's missing (rubber thing) sorry for all the technical talk?
Maybe this is why my bikes still a bit vibey?

That would certainly cause a vibey drive!
You need a rubber in that me son, and the sooner the better!
And while your going to take it off, that will give you a perfect excuse to put a new rubber in the other end.
Or am even better idea is upgrade your shock for a nice new one, simpler job and makes you smile more lol

Ah, thanks for that.
I've tried liking online but couldn't find a break down of the components.
It just looked like something was missing or worn away.
Next question is where do I get the bits to put it right? And how big a job is it??

I might be missing something here but isn't it just missing a metal dust cap like the one next to it....and does that maybe mean that whoever lost the dust cap previously also lost the correct size nut because looking at your pic the nuts are different sizes and that implies to me that someone just bodged that one on after losing everything???.

I used 2 of those metal dust cap thingies that I had left over from my 600 as a mod on my gen 2 for my handlebar risers.

No noggythenog, your maybe not missing something, I might be and once I get my eyes tested I'll be better honest!
I thought it was top off the rear shock, looking at it again, I'm lost to be honest!
But certainly something missing, and from what your saying, not a difficult job to fix?

No worries, im still not exactly sure from the pic where we are looking from but it looks very much like the engine mount caps that I pulled out of my bits n bobs box for this mod.

take a look...not plugging my prolonged thread but page 4 should be here, have a scroll down and theres a pic of the caps...just metal caps with I think slight rubber inner....so you might need 1 of them and a bigger nut to make it match the one next to it.

Im not even sure I am right here as the thread on the one with the missing cap looks much longer than the one with the cap???.

sure enough someone will know soon though.

and yep ive still got those grips kicking about in the shed...throw me a token gesture and postage and they are yours if you dare to tackle them.....obviously no warranty included :D

Hi all,
Yes it's the front engine mounting .
It's the same both sides pretty much, checked online and they look like the right holts just looks like something is missing or perished .
Don't know anyone with a fazer to check against and the online pictures of the mounting bracket don't show enough detail to say one way or another.
That picture shows the other side.

Its just one of those caps from my thread then thats missing.......turn it upside down, take off that bolt, place the cap on top, replace the bolt and tighten it up.....i think its that simple.

Just checked my unmolested bike, its the same, you don't  have anything missing, the rubber mount has to be able to move.
Old enough to know better
