nick I think? they where made in wales but shut down now.
Hmm, doesn't ring any bells. I think what might have happened (and I'm going back to about 2007-ish), is that due to hikes in raw materials costs, Yuasa batteries imported from Japan got very expensive for a time. Distributors in the UK then sourced them from other manufacturing plants that Yuasa had, but I think it was still somewhere in the far east (not China). These were not of such a high quality though. Japanese Yuasas then dropped in price again at some point later. Or something like that. It happened while I was working at a motorcycle dealership. We ended up selling Turbo batteries, which were distributed by Feridax, whilst Jap Yuasa prices were so high.
My main point being, the price and quality of Yuasa has indeed varied depending upon where they were made.
the top bushes I got sent by Brooks Barn are smaller in width than the ones I removed (see photo) is this something
anyone else has encountered,or is this the norm now? Any help appreciated before I call Brooks Barn in the morning.
Thanks for the info. fellas, as luck would have it it's the easiest bolt so hopefully I can get it in situ, assuming that the others come out, just need some quality cobalt drills, if I remember from my sheet metal days jobber make good stuff so will get a few of them. Does the Gen. 1 1000 have the same nut shearing problems as the 600 when taking off the downpipes ? Mine are in lovely nick as the bike has had a sheltered life so don't foresee any problems.
Cheers
Carl
I still have that bike and stick by my comments even though they maybe unpopular.
Parts provided by marksman were a wrong fit.
So while doing the forks i have noticed the head bearings are notchy, quite bad, so need new. Now when i look at the Yamaha parts its about £100.
I have seen the Marksman kit http://shop.marksman-ind.com/yamaha-fz1-2001---05-headrace--steering-kits-23350-p.asp, from what i read the tapered bearings are better was will last longer, if i buy the marksman kit will i need anything else for the job? Better to replace any wee cheap parts while in there is they are perishable.
Seen this topic http://foc-u.co.uk/index.php/topic,7518.0.html and it has me a bit worried on that the parts will all fit fine? There is a rubber washer mentioned, any idea on part number?
