When I used to hover over a post, a little pop up appeared with the first few lines of that post.
This has stopped now, how do I get it back?

If the first post has a video it doesn't work, but the other threads still work for me too. What have you changed?

Haven't touched it honest :lol

Using IE10 now, it changed itself automatically and every site I visit I had to log in again so I presume it's something to do with that?
But another forum I visit (VBulletin) the pop ups still work.

Just tried at home and as a guest or logged in there are no pop up boxes. This laptop is using IE10

Just tried Chrome and the boxes are there so is an IE10 thing

Click the compatibility mode button - one that looks like a page that's been ripped in two, in the address bar of IE.

I was wondering about this too, didn't touch anything either. Just clicked what you said and got it back but then lost the recent unread topics and updated topics option....Can't I have both ?

I'm in the same boat as locksmith. Nothing, no matter what the post!!!
Not quite sure what to do with my early mid-life crisis. Ideas on a post card to P.O.BOX 150...

You could try Firefox or chrome ;-)

Yes, compatibility mode works! :)

So if you are using IE10 then click that button.

IE10 (according to Wikiedia) has been out for months, so how come your computer has only now upgraded? Or has there recently been some interim minor upgrade?

All you Chrome, Firefox and IE users should try Opera as it is the best browser.

Try it and see :) But my reasons are ctrl-tab works like alt-tab i.e. latest first, and mouse gestures. There are many lesser reasons and if you try it you will find your own favourite features.

can you use opera for web development like you can with firefox, and the firebug addon?

You can right=click anywhere on a page and choose Inspect Element. This is in-built and really neat. I've not used firebug so cannot comment of the differences. Give it a go - you can always uninstall it! Just don't download version 15 - stick to v12.

Maybe this link'll work: http://www.opera.com/download/get/?partner=www&opsys=Windows&classic=1

But back to the question: how come IE10 has suddenly stopped working? What's changed with it?

Chrome has inspect element natively as well.  It also tells you how fast the pages loaded, the bottle necks, the size of the resources and the band with used.  It allows you to use .js scripts natively and also has tampermonkey to allow custom scripts for selective sites.  It really is very good.  Also it sandboxes each instance for security.  Maybe I'll have a look at opera though as I don't want to think of myself as close minded.

I'll stick with Firefox. It's what I know, what I like and (on my laptop anyway) actually loads pages faste than Chrome.

Browser choice is a personal thing and there is no wrong decision.  Microsoft have come a long way from their dire beginnings...

The only thing I really dislike about ie is, as mentioned above, the compatibility mode.  Eh ? They should all look the same without having to enable settings that are non standard.

I'm still happy with Firefox - tried using Chrome but I didn't get on with it on just a few niggly bits. I've also found Firefox's rendering engine to be by far the best

IE has come a long way, but its still quite far behind. The worst thing about IE is still the broken box model for CSS - its a nightmare until you get used to coding for it in anticipation of its crazy ass ways

Don't get me wrong.  I think Firefox is great.  I use both of them.
