I believe a lot of cutters won't go near them, but some will - its a bit of pot luck

When I got my 600 the previous owner had one key plus a new blank. I went to a local Timpsons who cut it for me but wouldn't guarantee it - I was happy with this and as it turned out, the new key worked 10x better than the old :P

Should be no problem getting a new key cut there's nothing special about the original key

Keys galore in London do them with replica keys so they look original, there must be other places nationwide that do it too!
Some say...

You can order them online if you have the code for the key, might be in the owners manual if you are lucky.

If you want an original Yamaha key blank, you can get them off Ebay for around £15. A local key cutter will cut it for about £5. I took one into my local Timpsons recently and they wouldn't touch it due to the fact that I hadn't purchased it from them so I took it somewhere more local and had no problems. I think it depends on which Timpsons you go to as others on here have had no issues with them. In the interests of naming and shaming I tried to use the Timpsons at Sainsburys on Grove Farm in Leicester and had no joy.

Most key cutters will have a looky likey key blank if originality is not an issue for you. Expect to pay between £10 - £15 for them to supply and cut one like this.
Yamaha Fazer 'the only bike you'll ever need' maybe ???

I just got one cut from Timpsons (for my 125 but it's the same blank)

If I were you I'd use the cut key and keep the genuine one in the drawer. I figure if you loose one it's better to take a copy of the original one rather then a copy.

think if I were going for a mail order key cut for car bike house etc i'd be inclined to have it sent to alternative address and pay using paypal.   Not that I'm suggesting anything, but in this world who knows ;)

A new spare key has been on my list for ages now. My main key was pretty badly worn and is a struggle to turn in the ignition. Been using the spare for ages now...  Also could do with a key that I can attach my new Meta alarm fob too. Old one broke due to key not turning well, but since replace alarm and got a new fob. So be good to sort it out proper, rather than having my alarm as a key ring.

So, question is, what shape key should I go for, to slot into the Meta alarm key fob?
