Thinking of getting a Tenere 700 or a CB500x
« on: 28 February 2021, 04:57:21 pm »
Any of you lovely peeps have experience with either of these bikes. I'm a stumpy short arse so would probably have the T7 lowered. If I bought the Honda I would get Rally Raid to chuck everything they make at it. I plan on doing some off roading like the TET so want it to be able to haul my fat arse anywhere I want to go plus all my camping gear and stuff to be away from home for a month or more. Your thoughts and suggestions are most welcome?

My mate has a Honda CB500X. His words not mine “It’s as flat as a fart”

Test ride one first if you can, especially if your coming down from a Fazer 1000.

you can’t go wrong with the tenere, it’s the kind of thing that soon as you get on it you start looking around to see where you can go off road and mentally you’re in Dakar mode
Gimme a Yammie & a Shoei and i’m happy 🏍

The Tenere and the CB500X are pitched at different markets. The Tenere is a semi-pukka dual sport machine with a very modern engine and cycle parts to match. The CB500X is a commuter bike in a DS dress, with a much smaller output engine (see above). My commuter bike is a NC700X which is as the same vein as the 500X in that it looks kind of dual sport, but isnt. CB500 residuals are dire [making it a decent used buy], expect Tenere residuals to stay strong for a while. This part of the market is crammed with options like the Stroms and is very competitive.

If I bought a  CB500X  I would invest into doing the full Rally Raid kit. The wire wheels and the  new suspension.  Not sure if it will then be nearly as tall as the Tenere.  I think if the  engine is as flat as a dart then the Tenere is the better option.  Just want a freakin' test ride
