Need to change my KBC vr1 its been dropped one time too many.
anyone got something you recommend at <£200
Some ok looking KBC and HJC stuff about.
What about the Duchinnis anyone got one?

im using a duchi(however you spell it!!!) its one of the high viz cheapish ones and one of best helmets iv ever had (had shoeis bell,nitro,etc etc)its mega comfy for me and nice and airy without been too noisy(i feel i get a bit closed in on some hemets!) i love the high viz colour as it realy does make you get noticed by cage drivers etc never been in to high viz clothes etc but this realy make you be seen easyer
the only downside of this helmet i can think of is the non buckle type strap but other than that its great with removable linings,iv got tinted and mirrored visors dirt cheap etc but everyones head is different shape so you need to try lots of makes as well as sizes out so check your local dealers

I've got a Caberg V2rr, its great, inbuilt sun visor that pops down easily when on the move, nice and quiet, ratchet chin strap. Plus the main thing that sold it to me was the Sharps test results... worth a check if you're in the market for a new lid http://sharp.direct.gov.uk/.

Obviously its most important that it fits well, guess I was lucky with both a good rating and a good fit.

Drop down sun visors, seem a great idea but
does the mechanism cause wind noise?
Whats a ratchet type fastener? I know the double D (my preference) and the seat belt style.

The Duchinni has a nice looking black 409 for an unbelievable £50
I know the "you got to spend as much as you can" brigade will be frothing at their keyboards
but If £50 does it then bonus.

I have a Duchinni D619 Bluetooth Flip not a bad helmet flip's to to be noisy anyway, only draw back is the visor is not a close fit so rain leaks down the front and can whistle a bit but doesn't make it unwearable.

i had a nolan that did that karlo!!...all i did was pressed a piece of screen trim across the top of the visor, and that made it water proof !!!!!!!

Sorry to jump on this thread but i'm after a new lid too.At the mo I'm using an Arai RX7 in Kenny Roberts colours, a truly lovely lid but very noisy. I was lucky enough to win this £500 helmet the week I was going to change my old Mick Doohan rep. I'm now thinking of buying a Roof Boxer for commuting, I want a flip that actually puts the chin bar out of the way and has a decent visor, these lids look really great. Any input would be appreciated?

the duci high viz i got only cost me £35 and like i said its brill apart from the double d fastner(maybe this can be changed to different type? i personally wouldnt have a open face or flip front helmet as i had a slide down a road years ago on my chin and altho i got gravel and bits cuts in chin the helmet took the road rash!(think was a shoei) and the docs etc recon that if i had open face on id have had no chin at all! this was on my old cub 70(work bike)so not going fast etc
i can see the point of flip front to lift up when you stoped etc but makes me cringe everytime i see someone riding with them up etc!

Thanks for putting the photo up Karlo, saved me a job!

No wind noise from the Caberg, really quiet (I think!) and the visor is really easy to operate when on the move. It was a bit more costly than those mentioned already but as I mentioned, it fit really well and the sharps test result was high so win win!

On the same subject . after suffering increasing neck pain this last few months, I have been looking for lighter helmets than my caberg flips (they are otherwise good helmets)
I've just won a caberg v2x small. on e bay for a very good price. I 'm hoping that i can convert it (their the same shell size) to a medium for not to much. I'll report back on this

I had a Duchinni, about £60 IIRC, double-D-ring fastening, 4-star Sharp rating, comfy enough but seemed to admit a lot of wind noise.

My old AGV was better, though to be fair, it was dearer too.

Nice to see some are happy with the Duchinni
off to J&S later in the week, look at these, HJC's and they have some LS2's never heard
of them but spec looks ok.
I'm a fan of double D fasteners as they are adjusted spot on each time.

Like a tw@ managed to drop my Shark S700 S on Friday so needed a new lid, decided to push the boat out a bit and got a Shoei XR1100 in Enigma colour scheme, not had chance to check it for wind noise as bike is off the road until Thursday for new tyres but first impressions comfort wise are very good. Will update when I have had a blast out on it. Will try not to drop this one.

Sorry to burst your bubble dont bother with the Roof Boxer they are dreadful, yes they look cool, but they steam up terribly in the wet and the rounded visor distorts your vision in the wet(goldfish bowl effect) i just changed mine for a shoei xr1100 and its fantastic.

I didn't even think they made Roof Boxters anymore! I can remember wanting one when I was 16 and my dad not letting me as the mechanism was fixed down with just a press-stud, still a nice looking helmet though

Bike show for 120 notes a year and a half ago. Like it lots. Had BMW Enduro before that which was comfy and quiet but the peak at the front make higher speeds a swingy

aye - but (as usual) a bit of false economy.

the weekend at the bike show cost me the best part of £200 (travel cost, drink, hotel, drink, Tickets, drink, drink)

so, helmet was a bit on the pricey side

Not so much for me Lazarus. Gave a tenner to a mate for fuel and bought a burger. Ended up spending just shy of about 300 quid but for that i got a new hat, one piece frank thomas leathers, thermal undersuit (pointless in the end, just hosiery fabric. Shite) and some bits and pieces
