Came back from a fortnight's holiday in Kent spent with a wife, pensioner in-laws and an arthritic dog in tow. Two weeks in a Mondeo meant I HAD to get out on the Fazer straight away!

So today what I did with my Fazer was wondered why the hell the battery was flat, and when charged up and tested (ran voltmeter between earth strap and -ve terminal) there was a 12v current flowing with everything switched off!  :'(
Broken, bruised, forgotten, sore,
too fucked up to care any more.

There room for a top box attached to it under that? Been thinking about picking one of those up

Cover won't close with top box in situ, and obviously you'd have to be in it to put it on after its closed! There's space around the bike to put it on the floor and still be under cover tho.

Took her in to have the stutter attended to. Better, but still not gone. The guy who looked at it, and myself, are convinced it's carb/fuel/air flow related. Just can't see it being electrical. Upset a lot of traffic in Cirencester testing it out after each stage of work, trying it around 3k rpm in each of the gears on a short stretch of dual carriageway between 2 roundabouts - up and down and up and down and...! I'm going to start a little thread on it in the thous section, rather than go into detail here. Pissed down all the way home, Oxford jacket is waterproof....apart from the zip! In other words, it ain't waterproof! My  Montane hiking over-trousers on the other hand kept my legs totally dry. Still love PR2s for wet weather riding.

Totally transformed the bike, you notice it as soon as you take it off the main stand, feels much firmer with less sag. No more bouncing on uneven roads. High speed corners are a breeze, even the lumpy  one near me. Gives you the confidence to edge your rear tyre and scrape your pegs on roundabouts. Bike feels more planted and more like a sports bike. I'm impressed. :)  As for the price. you know what these cost new, over £1k, even second hand I've seen them make over £500. There's a ropey one on fleabay for £400. I paid £295 delivered...Bargain 8) Thanks to spud for bringing this to my attention. ;)

When I replaced the rear shock on my last thou with a new Hagon item, the difference was wonderful. I can only imagine that the Ohlins would be even more so, plus it has so much more adjustment. I would just be worried that with all those adjustment options, I'd only tie myself in knots trying to set it up. Are you confident in this, or will you take it to a suspension specialist to set up?

Re-assembled the engine and installed it back into the frame.

Hopefully it won't be long now till I have the FZS back on the road!

Hi Nick, I know where you're coming from, suspension settings can get a bit confusing for me too. The previous rider was the same weight as me and tbh it feels right so far. That just leaves the preload to play with so pretty basic. As for taking it to a specialist, there are some pretty knowledgeable foccer's on here so may be picking their brains in the future.

Personally, if I thought it was a major improvement just as it was, I'd probably accept that and leave it, cos I'm one very lazy foccer! But I would also always wonder what it could be like if it was set up by someone who really knew their stuff. On the other hand I also think that a road set up is always going to involve a certain amount of compromise as it has to cope with so many different surfaces, carrying luggage and/or pillions etc. And on the 3rd hand ( :lol ) I know that the handling of your bike is now going to be far superior to that of mine anyway! Hey ho, it's the variation that keeps life interesting... :rolleyes

I took the bike to Woods in Abergele for it's 18000 mile service, dodging the showers there and back. Chin curtain for Qwest helmet awaiting me on return. I've already fitted ear pads, so if the chin curtain makes no difference to the horrendous noise levels there's nothing else to try. Out for a ride tomorrow so will try it then.
