  • is the door had been hung so that it did not open up into a thoughfare but back towards the person opening the door this would not occur !?!
  • Have you requested permission to carry that equipment that is not work related into your work building? As you are aware that doors leading to this area open outward why were you carrying this item in the hand closest to the door opening where it could be damaged if the door was opened.
  • Is the area you were walking down confined enough to make you walk close enough to the wall/ door to be with in the opening radius of the door or could you have been walking further from the wall/ door to avoid a collision if the door was opened.

  • No it open outwards into people walking past, so the company should know better.
  • irrelevent, thats like telling people they cant bring in any personal items which would not stand up in court.
  • and this is a good point, the area is narrow enough that even if I have been all the way over to the left she would still have managed to clip the helmet.

Regarding the rest of the thread, there were a few good points mixed in amongst a lot of noise. And its all a non-issue now as the company are paying up, end off.

Forget it, it's just one of them things.
I agree, but why should we be expected to constantly have to foot the bill. What if the helmet had been a right off or what if it had been my phone, the total cost of either would have been a few hundred pounds. Why should I/we have fall back on our house contents insurance in response to someone else's lack of due care and attention.

2178
Unless helmet has visible damage and you showed someone it before you left building
Yes, my line manager.

And regarding the door it was to my right, but she was looking straight through and opening it - the onus on due care and attention was her responsibility.

Anyone got any ideas on the 1st question?

Walking through rear reception this morning and some stupid bint opens the door into my crash helmet, her excuse  "sorry, I didn't see you", I replied "what, through a transparent glass door?"

This is the 2nd time in 6 months and I'm not letting this one slide, where does the law stand on such matters? as I fully expect the company (like the last one) to deny any responsibility on the matter.

1. as it happened on company property are the company liable? if so what legal speak can I quote them to capitulate?
2. or will I have to take the woman to opened the door unto my crash helmet to small claims court..?

I'm in the south east, and your suggestion reminded me my last fazer had a gel insert and that didn't help either the beanbag idea looks like its worth a punt though ;-)

Like some, after 30mins the left side of my bum begins to ache. I believe its either the riding pos or the seat, as my bandit 600 dosent cause the same type/level of discomfort etc, so...

1. is it a riding position issue (which I am leaning towards) that maybe fixed by changing the rider foot peg, bum and handlebar positions..?
2. is there any more that can be done to the stock seat that will help (fyi I have tried with a local upholster, with changed profiles etc (lower, different density foam etc)and it just made it worse)

Last resort is I go and buy an air hawk and have inflated just enough to keep my 'sit bones' from touching the fazer seat etc.

2184
Ah, I didnt know the FZ1 even had AIS so I though the gen2 bit was a typo :-)

Never bought Ivans kits, but the simplest way to do is just use caps that go over the spigots and secure them with instant gasket.

The attached pictures are of a kit that was made by Justy (unfortunately he doesn't make them any more)

The 600 and the 100 have the same front wheel size I believe, which is 120/70-17 its only the rear which is different 160/60 17 for the 6 and 180/55-17 for the 1000.

To offer a completely off-the-plot 'cure' based on that doesn't say much to me.  Or maybe it says a lot ... like, "we're drumming up business today, please come back and let us charge you £150 to slide the air/fuel sensor a little further into the silencer.
That was my first thought as well, whats the name of this "dyno" place so we can all avoid it...

I bought a used left hand switch gear and the wiring had different connectors so wouldn't fit, luckily I only needed some of the parts inside the switch.
yeah that's what I'm thinking, it should be easy enough to retro fit.

Ok good to see Im not the only one then, that bring us back to the wiring question.

Changing the switchgear and wiring in the flasher will be a piece of cake, but the big question is the wiring there for the hazard circuit? And for that matter how does the hazard circuit work as I have only ever known gen1 fazer to have a simple 3 pin flasher, does the hazard switch complete the left and right circuits at the same time etc...?

2193
Yeah, its a different shape and mounting points.. thanks anyway.

import bike? do you have headlamps auto on or do you have a light switch?
The paperwork dosent show anything, but it could be an import from a contry that has mph I guess..? and all FZS1000's after 2004 have auto on lights.

2195
now you know there are different early R1 arms. Mine doesn't have an allen bolt through, it has a large peened rivet type thing.
Ah that might explain the lack of freeplay on the rod if the one I have is a tad shorter than other R1 arms...

Just noticed the other day my 05' is missing the hazard and hi beam flash switches..

1. why would they be missing..?
2. is the circiutry still there, could I just buy a left hand switch gear with the aforementioned buttons and fit..?

2197
Still looking if anyone has got one..

Otherwise, anyone know of where I can get a pattern version..?

2198
I had it the right way round and reasonably sure it was lined up with the dot. The issue I had was trying to figure out the gear lever position and tying to stop it even touching the frame

Just been looking at Karlos post when it hit me, I forgot about the removable allen bolts in the ball joints. So worst case if my little adapter idea fails I can fall back on the useal method and when it comes to removing the R1 arm when changing the front sprocket I can just undue the said allen bolt etc.

2199
Even without any mod at all the foul is so slight it doesn't seem to effect use.
When I looked at it the other day, the rod fouled enough on the frame in my case that it made the gear lever stiff.

I see what yer saying, you could just set the lever to the position I want and then put a bend in the rod at that point. But then if and when you have to remove the l/h footpeg/rest its a pain in the arse to get off due to not being able to unscrew the rod. Just remembered the ball joints have a small allen bolt which is removeable so worst case have a slightly bent rod and undue said allen bolt.

At the end of the day its better to try and see if I make it better otherwise it will bug me for not trying.

2200
Well my drawing is just a rough sketch, I would try to make the adapter as small as possible etc.

Another idea then, how about making a small extension for the gear lever end instead..? it does mean though the R1 lever shaft would have to turn further around said towards the front of the engine etc..
