Raym, not sure what they've got atm but Alan Duffus are worth a look at through in Kirkcaldy.
They are a decent bunch, that's who I bought 'Bee from.

I wouldn't give Alistair the steam from my piss, attitude has been foccin' shite the last three times I enquired about a test ride and was looking to buy a bike, vowed that no matter how badly I needed a part he'd never get any more of my cash.

It has it's moments, but the kit on it is worth load more coin than that listing price.

Fazer8 / FZ8 / Re: Chopped the Fazer 8 in for a Tracer....
« on: 02 May 2015, 03:02:33 am »
No need to go anywhere buddy, loads of us on here have swapped bikes and remained as members.
Saying that, a few of us do end up with another Fazer again for some reason...
;)

Glad your enjoying the new toy, would you be interested in doing a wee comparison post for the site after a couple of months of ownership?
Pros and cons when compared to your Fazer?
I know that there are a few folks looking at trading in for the Tracer, I must admit when I saw one in the flesh last week it looks a tidy wee machine.

Either way, enjoy yourself and stay safe.

Cheers,
Aegis.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: Ignition removal
« on: 02 May 2015, 02:44:26 am »
I'm with Mick on this one PieEater, the information is readily available via google.
Given that the first Google hit is a link to our old Yuku site and the second is a link to the post Mick highlighted then I honestly don't see what all the fuss is.
I'd imagine that if it were a stolen bike then the buyer/seller wouldn't take the time to register on a forum (with their IP address available to us behind the scenes) rather just find an internet cafe or coffee shop, use the wifi anonymously and do a google search.

Also, if it had been stolen by professional thieves, I'd suggest that the Yamaha ignition barrel set up is fairly standard across the range, if not the entire bike industry, so if they've done it once...
Also nothing a BFH or an angle grinder couldn't sort.

I appreciate that as a first post it may not be ideal, but introduction etiquette aside I don't see that it warrants such paranoia.
As to your claim about being banned from commenting further, that's just not true.
Mick merely suggested that rather than diverting this post you raise your point in a separate thread.

Up until now we've been of the opinion that once you sign up all the forums functions be available to you rather than "x number of posts" required to insert pictures and the like, but if this is something that the members feel needs to be addressed then we will.

McGroital, welcome to Foc-U, sorry that it's not been the warmest of welcomes so far.
I hope that you don't prove Mick and I wrong and that you enjoy your time here with us, if you post in introductions where you are then there could be a few Foccers locally to help you out.

Cheers,
Aegis

There are loads of us from around the 'Weeg mate.
I'm not around so much now, the living in Auckland rather than Kirky means nipping along to Castlecary for a pie and pint is a bit TOO long for me.
;)

Stick a post up in events, Neily is along in Bonnybrig, Gringo and Mick are out in Dumbarton, Looney is down toward the borders but there are loads around.
I reckon they'll be popping up more now the weather is on the change, just lazy I reckon.

Your Suggestions and How you can help / Re: Problems sending PMs
« on: 13 April 2015, 10:13:17 am »
Those are the questions we have to ensure that people registering for the site are real and not bots, I can't think of any reason why you would be asked them before sending a pm.
My first instinct is that your phone logs you out, or at least appears to, so it assumes you have no account when you're trying to send the messages.

If you can could you send me details of what phone, browser etc you're using and I can have a look see if it's just you or if others have similar problems.
I would say PM me, but that may be difficult.
:rollin

My email is aegis@ the web address of the site.
Cheers,
Aegis

« on: 05 April 2015, 05:10:01 am »
Hey buddy, welcome to the asylum.
:D

The separate forums is to keep all the expertise on a certain model really handy.
Falcon is a thou genius, but his expertise on thou jetting isn't really that relevant to someone with an FZ6, so to stop general getting clogged up with things we keep it localised so someone like Mike can have a quick look and help with specific questions.

Which panniers/leathers/coolant type questions tend to end up in General as they're relevant to all, but some manufacturers don't produce a link pipe for a boxeye but they do for a Gen 2 thou, so better to ask people with experience of your model rather than be given false info by someone who didn't realise that that was the case.

If you haven't already done so, have a wee look in the events section and get yourself along to a meet.
They're a strange bunch, but on the whole they're fairly sound.
:p

It wasn't a scam, it was me.
As far as I'm aware we have never had any issues with spambots sending people personal messages on here, so why you should assume that one coming from me is such a beast is beyond me.
Especially when said message contained my name and other things that, typo in the title aside, read nothing like an automated response.

Also, how about before you start asking questions about things that I dealt with via PM on the (very) public forum, you ask me if it's real or not?
When I'm threatened with litigation you will excuse me if I deal with it quickly in a manner that I see fit before I seek your counsel.
To that end I've moved your post in general has been moved to the mods section before we talk more about the issue at hand and delete it.
If you're unhappy "about where this forum is going" try asking the people involved in making sure we HAVE a forum about the issue before taking it to the boards.
The other option is obvious.

Not wanting to get too arsey, but it is MY forum now.
I cover the hosting, I deal with peoples petty and insular squabbles, I try and sort out deals, discounts and the like for members as well as occasionally having time to read and participate in threads that interest me.

If I'm being short, I can only apologise, but it's been a cunt of a shift in work today dealing with folks complaints, to come on here and have to do the same is not what I was looking for.

Front page / Spring Meet 22.5.15 - 25.5.15 (May Bank Holiday weekend)
« on: 10 March 2015, 04:51:15 am »
Hey up folks, given that I'm at least a 24 hour plane ride away, fair to say I'll be missing my second Spring Meet in a row.
Gutted doesn't come close, been my staple for the last decade.
:/
Anyway, for the newbies amongst you, awesome weekend of biking, boozing and bananas behaviour in the wonderful Yorkshire countryside.
Do it, you know it makes it sense!

Love 'n Hugs,
Aegis

Baws.
:/

Last time this happened the host blamed a spam attack via wordpress, can you fellas PM time and duration please so I can ask them what the foc is going on?

All good Imax, if we need to move hosts I may ask for a few voluntary sheckles, but atm there's no need.

General / Re: How old was you when your career started?
« on: 07 March 2015, 09:46:32 pm »
Left school, hit Uni, did my post grad and been teaching since 2001, so I was 22-23.
I'm one of the lucky ones in that I love my job and have been employed full time since Feb 2002, even when I resigned after seven years in the same school to come across here to NZ I only missed a days work before blagging my way into long term supply for six months before I flew over.

Good thing about it is that it's never the same, granted after seven years you know what lesson you'll be doing by what tuesday of september it is, but changing schools is like starting a new job again.

Also means I'm able to head to other places and still do what I love, although getting Kiwis to understand my lilting Scottish brouge has been guid for a giggle.

Folks thought I was bonkers for leaving everything and everyone I knew behind and shipping off 12000 miles, but I'm only 36 and figured that a change is as good as a rest, so why not change up everything and see how foreign climes suited.

Reckon you just need to work out what you like and what you are like, have a good rummage around and see what else out there fits.

Welcome to the Asylum buddy!

If you pop a wee post into the For Sale section with a good description in the title, more foccers will see your request than they will in here.
Guid luck, and we want to see photies when it's finished!

I totally love my Reevu lid, über comfy, quiet for a flip front and I get to be a nosey bastid and see what's behind me.
It was brilliant for commuting into the 'Weeg, even in the shitiest of weather.

Tony at Bikes On Parade sells them, he's a guid lad, worked with him for a while at Harley's in Springburn.

Any of you looking to take the OP up on the group discount offer?

As they sent a very polite pm asking permission to post, I figured that as a few of you are likely to take a look see, may as well try and save you a few sheckles toward a pint/bling/tat at the show.

Thought that there would have been a bit more of a positive response to it than this if I'm honest.
I would, but the fare from over here may prove a little more than the projected discount...
